Winter is here!
We can’t believe another year is nearly over here at Barking Mad! We would like to wish all out dog boarding customers and our holiday dog sitting hosts a very Merry Christmas! We’ve worked very hard this year to expand our dog home boarding service across South Norfolk and have been lucky enough to welcome customers from New Buckenham, Forncett St Mary, Barnham Broom and Attleborough. We are thrilled to be serving our wonderful county with our 5 star alternative to dog kennels and hope it continues to grow in 2020. Similarly our host community has expanded beyond belief this year. We have welcomed many hosts from Taverham, Drayton and Lyng into our home from home dog boarding community.
In order to continue to grow our professional dog sitting service next year, we have decided to consider more online advertising. With that in mind we are now proud to be advertising our dog holiday care service on the brilliant Dotty 4 Paws website. They are the doggy hub for all your canine needs and we are honoured to be part of that. We hope it helps spread the word about our home from home dog sitting service!
October is an important month for our charity partners Dogs For Good – October becomes Dogtober. In honour of this, we organised a charity walk at Centre Paws in Wymondham. Despite the wind and rain, Norfolk folk came from all over to support us. We had people travel from Lyng, Taverham and Ashby St Mary, which was brilliant. Of course all dogs got given a free biscuit and every human got given a leaflet about our dog holiday care and how we are a fabulous alternative to dog kennels. We raised £83 for Dogs For Good which we were absolutely thrilled with!
As it’s nearly Halloween, we couldn’t resist indulging our office doggies in some festive cheer! Our great friends at Centre Paws ran a ‘Dogwarts’ themed event, which everyone enjoyed. As well as having fun, we also managed to talk to lots of locals about our home boarding for dogs and we also do puppy sitting. We are starting to become well known in Wymondham and Barnham Broom!
We’ve also have some very exciting news this month in that we now have a third office dog! Bonnie the gorgeous Labrador now lives with Reggie. As she is only 6 months old, we are letting her find her feet before we give her an official title. She has already been working hard with Jess and has already helped spread the word about our overnight dog boarding service in Attleborough, Besthorpe and Trowse. As always Nellie is using her big puppy dog eyes to win over anyone she meets! Everyone always wants to listen to her explain how our home from home dog boarding service works.
In November, we are thrilled to be going back to Surlingham and supporting Teles Pattiserie with their Christmas Show on 17th November. We will also be returning to the Boudicca Hotel in Caistor St Edmunds on the 1st December.
As always September has been a busy month for our dog sitting service! We’ve been out all around Norfolk spreading the word about our alternative to dog kennels. Easton is the newest place we discovered and we’ve had lots of interest from potential holiday dog sitters. We’ve also been to Great Ellingham and Wymondham, where we discovered some wonderful dog friendly shops! They were all very interest in how our overnight dog boarding services works and were impressed with the wonderful care we take to make sure all our dogs have the perfect holiday.
September has also been a very busy month for puppies! We’ve had lots of enquiries for puppy sitting, which we love! They’ve come from parts of Norfolk that we haven’t previously had dog boarding customers in before. Old Buckenham, Barford and Rockland St Mary (to name but a few) have now become Barking Mad and discovered the joys of our home from home dog sitting service!
Finally we were thrilled to visit the Norfolk All About Dog Show near Costessey. It was like doggy paradise! Everyone wanted to talk to our resident Doberman about our dog holiday care service! We had a wonderful time!
What a busy summer we’ve had here at Barking Mad South Norwich! With all our holiday dog sitters having worked so hard for us and cared for so many dogs this, we couldn’t think of a better way to thank them with a BBQ! Our dog sitting families are at the heart of our home dog boarding service and we simply couldn’t do without them. We are thrilled that so many hosts came and that our network of pet sitters is growing. We now have hosts in New Buckenham, Loddon, Rockland St Mary and Brooke, to name but a few! It was just wonderful to have them all in one place!
As always, we have lots of exciting dog friendly events coming up. In September, our friends at the wonderful Teles Patisserie in Surlingham are having a dog photo shoot show and have invited us along. The owners are dog lovers themselves and want to help us spread the word about our alternative to dog kennels. We know that so many people in Norfolk are looking for the best possible care for their beloved pooches and we know home from home dog boarding service is the answer they are looking for! In October, we are also hosting our first Dogtober Walk at the lovely Centre Paws near Barnham Broom and Wymondham. We love the opportunity to spread the word about our charity Dogs For Good as well as our pet sitting service.
We are thrilled to say that we successfully ran our very first Dog Show in July! We were overwhelmed by the attendance from all the dog lovers across Norfolk. The show itself was held in Lyng but we had dogs come from as far as Poringland, Long Stratton and Attleborough just to take part! Many of the entrants were very excited to hear about our home from home dog boarding service and how we offer the complete alternative to dog kennels. Our judges did a fabulous job and loved the opportunity to network with the doggy community. Rosa from A Star Pet Care has just started up her dog walking business in Norwich, Bowthorpe and Costessey and was thrilled to have the opportunity to spread the word.
As always with the summer months, July have been very busy in dog holidays! Not only have we busy providing holiday care for dogs, we are always looking to spread the word to find more dog sitting host families. We were honoured to give a talk in the Loddon and Chedgrave at the Friends and Neighbours group as well as be part of the Women in Business event at Centre Paws near Barnham Broom and Wymondham. Long may the dog boarding busy season continue!
June has been a very busy month here at Barking Mad South Norfolk! We were thrilled to discovered a new dog friendly spot in Ketteringham called the Orangery Tea Rooms. It is just outside of East Carleton and Intwood, so has the most gorgeous countryside surroundings. We love anywhere dog friendly so we knew it was the perfect location for a coffee morning with our dog sitting host families. The staff were brilliant and were all interested to hear about our dog home boarding service. We will definitely be back!
We also discovered another dog friendly treasure in Surlingham this month. We have often been to the surrounding villages of Rockland St Mary and Kirby Bedon but we confess this is our first visit to Surlingham and we were presently surprised! Teles Patisserie is a hidden treasure and as a dog-lover herself, the owner wanted to know about about our alternative to dog kennels. As with many of customers, home from home dog boarding is their only option for their precious pooch.
To finish off the month, we were thrilled to celebrate the first birthday of Centre Paws in Wymondham. We sponsored the Best Rescue round in the dog show and I think you will agree our winner was gorgeous! Centre Paws is perfectly place in South Norfolk so at our stand, we met people from Barnham Broom, Wicklewood and Costessey, to name but a few. Everyone wanted to hear more about our home dog boarding service and loved knowing they would have an option for overnight dog boarding in the future.
May your May be dog-filled!
We kicked off May with our annual fayre at the University of East Anglia. They are always happy to have us and learn about our dog home boarding service. We spoke to many future dog-sitting hosts from all over Norfolk including Eaton, Cringleford, Norwich and Hethersett. They were delighted to hear how our alternative to dog kennels allows them to borrow a dog in the school holidays!
May also brought our second Coffee & Chinwag event at Lyng Village Hall. We had doggies come from Lenwade, Costessey and Drayton to meet us and hear all about our home from home dog boarding service. We also had a special visitor from Jenny’s Doggy Delights who makes her own dog treats, which went down a storm!
It wouldn’t be a Barking month without a coffee morning for our holiday dog-sitters at Centre Paws in Wymondham! Nellie was delighted to be reunited with her favourite home dog boarder David for lots of fuss and cuddles. After coffee and cake, we finished up the day with a lovely walk around the gorgeous field in Barnham Broom.
Finally it has been a busy month for our Head of Social Media, Reggie! He entered in the Eaton Dog Show last weekend and came 6th for most handsome. Obviously we think he deserved 1st place but there were a lot of gorgeous doggies from Eaton and throughout Norwich, so we will let this one slide! We met so many dogs that day and everyone was very interested to hear about our local dog boarding service throughout South Norfolk.
We are thrilled to be running out first ever dog show in Lyng this year on 14th July! We want to make it fun for every dog and raise as much money as we can for Dogs For Good. We will also be hoping to tell as many people as possible our 5 star dog sitting service!

Barking Mad South Norwich Celebrates Its First Birthday
This March, Barking Mad South Norwich celebrates being in business for a whole year! To mark our first birthday, we held a party at Centre Paws in Wymondham. This dog-friendly café near Barnham Broom and Wramplingham has supported us from the very beginning of our dog boarding journey and we couldn’t think of a better place to hold our first birthday party. We invited all our dog-sitting host families to come and share a slice of cake and a coffee with us. It was wonderful to reflect on the past year on how our local dog sitting business has grown.
We now have pet sitting hosts all over South Norfolk, from Costessey to Wicklewood and Taverham to Brooke. We have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the far reaches of South Norfolk and discovering places in the county that we had never heard of before! Visiting places like Long Stratton, Banham and Hingham, it has been great talking to other new business owenrs and sharing our experiences.
Ultimately this year has taught us that South Norfolk love its dogs! Everyone we speak to is always looking for a premium home from home dog boarding service to ensure that their furry friends are looked after as they would be at home. We look forward to providing this local dog sitting service for years to come!
We have a busy season of shows coming up! We are excited to part of the Boudicca Hotel in Caistor St Edmunds grand re-opening! Come along and see us at their craft fair on 13th April. In May, we are taking part in the Loddon Dog Show which will be a new show for us. We are looking forward to speaking to the resident of Loddon and Chedgrave about our dog-sitting service.
We are incredibly proud to have hosted our first ever quiz night this month! The Jubilee Youth Club in Hethersett kindly donated the hall and some of our most treasured dog-sitting hosts travelled from Bawburgh and Norwich to join us for the evening. We are honoured that some people from the village came along to hear about our dog home boarding service as well as to support the wonderful charity Dogs For Good. Our fellow dog lovers, the owners of Centre Paws in Wymondham, couldn’t make it but very kindly sent a donation. We are delighted to have raised £120 for such a good cause.
This month is set to be a busy one for our holiday dog sitters! We have been travelling all over South Norfolk to meet our new furry friends, signing up new dogs in Morley, Brooke and Bergh Apton to name by a few. Our newest member of the team, Jess has also been working hard to spread the word about our local dog sitting service. As a resident of the lovely village of Lyng, Jess has been travelling to the neighbouring villages such as Elsing and Primrose Green to search for doggies in need of home from home pet care. We look forward to meeting more of your 4 legged friends soon!
We are delighted to be working in partnership with the new Lyng Village Hall. Each month we will be running a dog-friendly coffee morning for any locals who are in need of a friendly chat and a furry friend with their coffee!
Happy New Year From Barking Mad!
Here at Barking Mad South Norfolk, we want to wish all our customer and dog-sitting hosts a Happy New Year! We had a wonderful dog-filled Christmas and hope you had the same. Our puppy-sitting host Naomi and her family had a wonderful time with their gorgeous guest Daisy. We love their festive Christmas tree picture! We think it truly defines what our dog boarding service is all about; providing home from home dog care and being truly spoilt! We also couldn’t resisting sharing this wonderful picture of ‘Santa’ Bob! Our wonderful dog-sitter Jenny sent us this photo on Christmas Day- doesn’t he just look adorable?
We are very excited to announce that we are going to be working with the new wonderful Village Hall in Lyng. It will play a key part in the Lyng community and we are going to work with them to set up a local dog-friendly coffee morning. Our aim for this year is to explore more of Norfolk and spread the word about our dog-home boarding services to more places such as Great Witchingham and Lenwade. We can’t wait to meet you all!
Bark The Herald Angels Sing
It’s been a busy December here at Barking Mad South Norfolk. We had our first ever Christmas Party in Hethersett for our dog-sitting host families. It was wonderful to have so many of my hosts in one room and I was so touched they came from all over Norfolk, including Brooke, Bawburgh and Taverham. With their dedication to dog-sitting, I wouldn’t be able to run this brilliant dog home-boarding service, so it was wonderful to be able to thank them.
We have also been very busy with different craft fayres around Norfolk. We have thoroughly enjoyed talking to you all about our home from home dog boarding service at all of these events. Starting with Taverham in November, we have also been to shows in Caistor St Edmunds, Poringland and Wymondham. It’s time to put our paws up now!
From doing all these wonderful shows across South Norfolk, we managed to raise a whooping £450 for Dogs For Good. We are so thrilled to be supporting this wonderful charity, who are also huge fans of our local dog boarding service. The ladies of the Taverham Village Hall ‘Coffee and Chat’ have also helped us fundraise by allowing us to sell our pupcakes at their local coffee morning. It has been a pleasure to tell them all about our dog-sitting service and to hear all about their lovely dogs.
Here at Barking Mad South Norfolk, we are still celebrating our success in Dogtober! We had a wonderfully successful Pupcake Sale at the fantastic Centre Paws in Wymondham. After lots of time spent spreading the word throughout Wymondham and the neighbouring villages of Hethersett and Kimberley, we raised nearly £80 for Dogs For Good. It was also fantastic to have the whole Barking Mad team together. I’m very proud to have such a great team who are so dedicated to providing a 5 star pet-sitting service.
Marketing for our Pupcake Sale, we got to visit some beautiful parts of South Norfolk including the lovely village of Hingham. Whilst visiting all the local shops, we were delighted to meet lots of dog lovers who were interested to hear all about our alternative to kennels. As always, they were impressed with the way our dog sitting service worked and also our partnership with Dogs For Good.
November is going to be a busy month for us as it is now the season of Christmas fayres! Our first show will be at Taverham Village Hall, followed by Caistor Hall Hotel in Caistor St Edmund and then finally at Poringland Community Centre. We will be aiming to raise as much money as possible for Dogs For Good whilst also introducing people to our home from home dog boarding service.
Forget October, it’s all about Dogtober! We are delighted to be supporting Dogs For Good this Dogtober by hosting a Pupcake Sale on 27th October. We are co-hosting this with the wonderful doggy haven Centre Paws and they are kindly lending us their dog-friendly café ‘The Blackberry Tea Rooms.’ Based near Wymondham and Barnham Broom, this doggy paradise is a fan of our local do sitting services and is always keen to help us raise money for charity. We look forward to seeing you all there!
This month, we have been busy exploring the lovely Long Stratton. We popped into the Past and Present Tearooms whilst we are there to congraluate them on their recent award. It is a wonderful café and draws in locals from the surrounding villages such as Wacton and Tasburgh. Whilst we were there, we had a wonderful chat to some of the Long Stratton locals about our alternative to kennels and how we offer a home from home dog sitting service.

Here at Barking Mad South Norwich, we work tireless to ensure the high possible standard of dog boarding and we are always thrilled when we hear that our customers see that. This lovely review one of our dog holiday regulars was a joy to read so we just had to share it:
Remember in September
September is an important month for Barking Mad as it is when we focus on remembering our beloved friends that have passed over the Rainbow Bridge. The pain of losing your four legged friend is often leads many of our dog sitting hosts to find Barking Mad. Many of our pet sitters have had dogs all their lives but reach a point where they can’t bear the idea of losing another dog. To celebrate our canine friends, we are holding a coffee morning at the School House Café in Poringland on 17th September.
We have also been spending a lot of time in Taverham and Thorpe Marriott this month, talking to everyone about our professional pet sitting service. We discovered a wonderful dog-friendly café in Taverham too and they were very excited to hear all about our alternative to dog kennels. Taverham appears to be a town of dog-lovers; everyone we spoke to wanted to know more and more about our dog home boarding service. The neighbouring hamlet of Thorpe Marriott is also haven for dogs with it’s wonderful park. We hope to introduce lots of the locals to our bespoke dog minding service, whether it be as a dog sitter or as someone in need of home from home pet care for their pooch.
We are excited to already have a busy season of Winter Fetes lined up to spread the word about our local dog sitting service. In November, we will be attending Taverham Village Fete on 10th November and Caistor Hall Hotel Winter Fayre on 17th November. We look forward to seeing you there!
After a busy summer of providing holiday care for dogs across South Norfolk, we have been thrilled to see that our customers are truly satisified with our dog home boarding service. Everything we do at Barking Mad is aimed as providing a 5 star home from home dog boarding service and we are so delighted that our customers experience that.
Brooke is a lovely little Norfolk village that I have discovered only since I took over this wonderful dog-sitting business. It has proven a great area to find our dog-sitting hosts and I wanted to have a bit more of an explore to tell more people about our home from home boarding dog sitting service. I also ventured into Poringland which is next to Brooke and meet some lovely dog-lovers who were happy to help me spread the word about my pet-sitting business. Having received such a warm welcome in Brook and Poringland, next on my list are the neighbouring towns of Kirstead Green, Seething and Mundham.
Our most exciting news this month is that our puppy Nellie has finally come home! She is going to be the official mascot of our pet-boarding service. She has already been in the car exploring parts of Wymondham and our local village of Hethersett. We can’t wait to be able to take her to Earlham and Eaton park. We are also hoping that she encourage lots of people to want to do some puppy-sitting!
We also took Nellie to the newly opened doggy paradise: Centre Paws. This canine hub is based
just outside Wymondham and is easy driving distance for the surrounding villages of Great Melton, Little Melton and Wickelwood. They love dogs as much as we do and are huge fans of our overnight dog boarding service. We are hopefully going to work closely together and share our love of dogs!
This month has been all about Norfolk exploration! We recently visited the lovely village of Lyng to check in with one of our top dog homeboarding customers and we discovered the wonderful Lyng stores. As a local business like ourselves, we made a little pitstop and chatted the lovely owners about our dog-sitting services and how we are the best alternative to kennels. As we were new in the area, the café staff were telling us about local villages to visit to help our search for holiday dog sitters. So next for us to visit is Elsing, Sparham and Bylaugh- stay tuned!
We also paid a visit to the lovely village of Little Melton too. Many residents were very interested in our home from home pet care service and we hope that we will soon be welcoming some of them as local dog sitters in the Barking Mad Family. Our new team member Jenni has also been working hard and spreading the Barking Mad word in Sisland, Brooke, Mundham and Kirstead Green this week.
We’ve also found the venue for our next coffee morning for our dog-sitting hosts. The lovely School House Café in Poringland is fast becoming a community hub and is welcoming local groups from Framingham Earl, Bergh Apton and Brooke, to name but a few. The owner was very impressed with our local dog boarding service and thinks many of her customers will be interested in becoming dog home boarders.

Barking Mad South Norwich – The June News
We here at Barking Mad South Norwich are delighted to announce that we have taken on a fantastic member of staff. Jenni and her dog Bob have been loyal fans of our home from home dog boarding service for several years- Bob still enjoys a dog holiday with us now! Jenni is very excited to be a member of the team and you may will see her driving around South Norfolk when she is picking up dogs for their holidays. She is looking forward to meeting all your four-legged friends and can’t wait to introduce more to our 5 star dog home boarding service. As a customer, an employee and now a host, Jenni is truly Barking Mad and we wouldn’t have it any other way!
This month we also had a fantastic coffee morning at the lovely Green Pastures Garden Centre in Bergh Apton. It was wonderful to see so many of our dog sitting hosts come along and to talk about what we all love: dogs!
As the summer arrives, so does the busy season of dog sitting! As well as the dog show in Hethersett, we will also be making an appearance at Banham’s Summer Fete on 7th July and a local wellbeing event on 8th July in Hethersett. It would be great to see you all there!
University of East Anglia – May 2018
It has been another busy month for Barking Mad South Norwich. We have been working very closely with our neighbours at Barking Mad Norfolk and organise a visit to the PGCE students of the University of East Anglia. It was wonderful to talk to so many potential hosts for our dog-boarding service and tell them about how they could spend their school holidays with a four-legged companion. We also teamed up to organise our first quiz for our hosts. All the proceeds went to Dogs For Good and we raised over £180, which was a fantastic result. We hope to make this a regular event for our hosts and the next quiz will hopefully be in Hethersett or Poringland to enable as many of my dog-sitting hosts to come as possible.
Barking Mad South Norwich HQ also did some hosting this month! We had the pleasure of welcoming Bonnie and Itchy to our home for 10 days. They were brilliant house-guests and we got to discover lots of wonderful local walks together such as Whitlingham Broad, Earlham Park and Eaton Park as well as giving me an excuse to explore more my local towns, Hethersett and Wymondham.
The summer is set to be fete-tastic for Barking Mad South Norwich! We are sponsoring the Jubilee Youth Club in Hethersett to hold their annual Dog Show and Fete fundraiser. The show promises paddling pools, ice cream, a BBQ and much more! We are also looking forward to having a stalls at the local fetes in Costessey, Banham and the Norfolk and Norwich hospital in Colney. We hope you can pop along to see us!
Out and About – April 2018
April has been a busy month for Barking Mad South Norwich! I have been on the search for dog lovers and that led us to find the Central Norfolk Walking For Health group. They run local walks in South Norfolk every week in the Norwich City Centre, Trowse, Loddon, Bergh Apton, Hethersett and many more. I was lucky enough to discover the wonderful village of Swardeston on my first walk and found these beautiful bluebells hiding behind the trees. What would have made the walk even more perfect would have been a dog! I will definitely be recommending this beautiful Swardeston walk to my Barking Mad hosts when they are dog-sitting.
I also held my first host coffee morning this month at my local café in Hethersett. Janey’s Café is right in the heart of Hethersett and I wanted to support this local business. I promised my hosts lots of cake and Janey delivered as promised! It was wonderful to spend time with my hosts and talk to them more about the pooches that they love dog-sitting. I will be looking to alternate my coffee mornings between Janey’s and a café in Poringland to ensure it is convenient for all my hosts.
May is also going to be a busy month as I have talks arranged at my local Church, Hethersett Methodist and the Wymondham University of the Third Age. As always I’m on the search for dog lovers to give our Barking Mad dogs the most relaxing doggy holidays! I’m also excited to attend my first dog show in Morley and can’t wait to see who will be the best show. Barking Mad South Norwich is also proud to sponsor the Hethersett Youth Club’s Fun Dog Show and Fete in June so stayed tuned for pictures to follow.
