We love our job providing you and your dogs with the best doggy holiday care in South Devon.
Our team in the Plymouth area is a family affair; Jennifer Hamer and her husband, Terry, and Jennifer’s sister, Carolyn Campbell. We all love dogs, Jennifer and Terry have a Golden Retriever called Sidney and Carolyn has a young Chocolate Labrador called Hettie.
We all love to meet new customers and their dogs and then collect and return the dogs for their holidays. Our host family is selected to match your dog’s lifestyle; the amount of exercise, age, size and especially number of cuddles needed. So we come along and meet you and your dog and find out all about him/her. We think this initial meeting is so important as it allows us to get to know your dog and enables us to make the perfect match with one of our great dog-loving host families.
We feel that we have the best job possible, every day is different and we meet the most fantastic and interesting dogs and their owners. What can be better than collecting a dog knowing that they are going to have at least as good a holiday as their owner (and probably a lot less stressful), and making our host’s day by leaving the dog with them.

Our hosts are very special people who love having Barking Mad dogs to stay. We select them very carefully and they have oodles of experience of caring for dogs. They care for our dogs for a variety of reasons. They may have a very friendly dog who wants a playmate or they may have lost a dog recently and aren’t ready to have a new dog permanently. Or they may have had dogs for a long time and would prefer a dog part-time to fit in with their lifestyle. The thing they all have in common is that they absolutely love dogs and will treat your dog as part of their family. A lot of our dogs have been with us for many years and keep going back to the same host family so it’s like a second home for them.
When you go on holiday we collect your dog from your home and take them to their holiday home. We ensure that they are settled and happy with the host and contact you to put your mind at rest. When we bring your dog home after their holiday we will give you great feedback about your dog’s stay. When you book again we will always try to place them with the same host family.
