Best Dogs in Fife this Autumn
Have you seen our Woofer of the Week feature on our Facebook page? No – then you should check it out. Every week we give one lucky dog the chance for their picture to be our Barking Mad pin up of the week… it’s all in a bit of fun and the only prize is the prestige of being picked.
Here are some of lovely recent winners:
Fife Dog Sitter hosts a walk in memory of doggies
To celebrate Dog Remembrance Month we hosted a walk along at Leven Beach and were joined by over 50 doggies. It was lovely to meet friends old and new but what was extra special was the effort people made to come and leave a memory tag on the Tree of Remembrance. One lady in Kirkcaldy couldn’t make it on public transport as her doggie is petrified of buses but fortunately we had offers from one of our customers in Torryburn as well as our friendly dog walker in Kelty to pick her up so she still made the day. We also raised another £98.75 for Dogs for Good which was fantastic.

Canine Capers & Cakes for Dog Remembrance Month
Come and join our doggies for our next Canine Capers & Cakes Walk on 2nd September 2018. We meet at the caravan park end of Leven Beach at 11am and all friendly doggies are welcome – even if you don’t have a doggie you’re more than welcome to join us. This walk is extra special as it also marks Dog Remembrance Month paying tribute to our beloved four legged furbies who have now passed over the Rainbow Bridge. We’ll be joined by doggies from Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes and all places in between as this is truly a Fife event. After the walk there’s the chance to have a cuppa, cake and a chinwag – hope to see you there.

August 2018 – Fundraising for our four legged friends
We had a great day at this years Bark in the Park at Lochore Meadows and it was lovely to see customers coming from across the region – from wee Millie from Thorton, to the mad duo known as Beau & Luke from Torryburn and the big fella himself, Harry from Leslie – all has a fabulous day. Even better was that we managed to raise £200 for Second Chance Kennels with our Barking Mad Craft Club tombola – thanks to all the lovely ladies for their continued support.
And we are continuing with our 1000 Mile Challenge to raise funds for Dogs for Good which is proving a challenge as we are 35 miles behind at the moment! With the cold weather earlier in the year and the hot summer we’ve not been able to go for some of our longer walks. We have though had great cooler woodland walks at Blairadam near Kelty, wet beach walks at Seafield in Kirkcaldy and Loch Leven by Kinross is always a winner. July 2018 – Hosts & hounds. The best dog care in Fife
Our monthly Dugs & Mugs Walk with our hosts was a fantastic day with this glorious summer weather. Pettycur Bay beach in Kinghorn was the location and it was great to be joined by so many holiday doggies too.
June 2018 – Loads of doggies join us at Leven Beach
This month saw our biggest ever Canine Capers & Cakes Walk with 38 doggies joining us from all over Fife. Even though the event was held at Leven Beach it was lovely to see people taking the time to travel from the likes of Dunfermline, Kinross and Inverkeithing to join us. Our next walk is 2nd September so keep an eye on our Facebook page for the latest updates.
May 2018 – Franchisee of the Year goes to Fife & Kinross!
We are very proud to have been awarded “Barking Mad Franchisee of the Year 2017 /18” at our annual conference. It’s great that our wee business here in Fife & Kinross has received such recognition as is also a reflection on our wonderful hosts.

A New Year and a New Challenge – January 2018
The Barking Mad national charity for 2018 is Dogs for Good and to raise funds we decided to set ourselves a challenge to walk 1,000 miles in the year. Only 2.74 miles a day! So to make it harder we decided to only count the miles when we are walking doggies and are together… this is proving a challenge! Most of our walks are on the hills so slower miles than we imagined! We’re keeping on track though despite having 5 days without anything counting and by the end of the month we’d achieved 85.8 miles.
If you’d like to sponsor us please visit our page at Virgin Money Giving – all donations are greatly appreciated and go to such a great cause.
Our Host Highlight
All our hosts are fantastic and love giving all doggies a five star holiday. This month David had the joy of looking after Harry, a 7 month old Newfoundland pup! He’s a big boy already and has a few special needs because of his joints but this wasn’t a problem. As David’s says “you just need to follow the pet schedule… he’s a big boy but a joy to look after though you do need to keep a towel to hand for the love strings aka slobbers!”
Canine Capers & Cakes Walk
Our next walk will take place on Sunday 4th March at Leven Beach… we’ll be meeting at 10:30am and remember to bring a mug with you!
Dog Lovers Christmas Party – December 2017
Another year has flown by and we celebrated with our wonderful dog care hosts with a wee pre-Christmas party to say a massive thank you. Pulled pork cobs, mulled cider and a good old blether was the order of the day. We liked to also say a massive thanks to all our fabulous customers who put their faith in us and lets us give their doggies an amazing 5 star holiday… Merry Christmas Everyone!
A Chilly November 2017
Was a chilly month this month to be doing outdoor events but we loved doing the Kinross Festive Street Market. We did have to wrap up warmth but it did stay dry and in the end we raised £185 for Greyhound Rescue Fife on the night selling the wonderful items made by our Barking Mad Hatters craft group. This is amazing as just £10 will feed a rescue greyhound for a week!
The following day was a chilly one but we had great fun at Leven for our Canine Capers & Cakes walk. We were joined by customers, hosts & Facebook friends for a morning stroll along the beach with over 30 doggies having a blast. They truly are a great bunch of people and whilst we were having cake and a cuppa talk turned to the Kinross Market the previous night and before you knew hands were going into pockets and we raised another £41 – thank you so much.
