Helen and David Woolley Working with Sirius Dog Sanctuary, Cyprus

One of two brothers born in the Shelter 2 years ago Barking Mad Cyprus have been working hard to help the stray dogs on the island. Volunteering for Sirius Dog Sanctuary is fantastically rewarding and they are always looking for more help.

There are 110 dogs in an old warehouse looked after by a small team of volunteers of many nationalities. There is no electricity and only cold running water. It is totally funded by donations. The food bill alone is 90Euros a month. The shelter neuters all female dogs and many dogs arrive in poor health so need vet treatment. Vet bills are high.

Helen Woolley recognised there were many lovely dogs in the shelter that deserved a home so contacted a friend and linked to a charity in Germany that rehomes dogs. Many dogs have now been rehomed and they even set up the Cyprus Rehoming Dogs Association to advertise dogs for adoption.

Tobi, Male Cyprus Poodle, born Sep 2007.

Dogs are available for adoption in Cyprus and other EU countries and they arrange preparation and assist transport arrangements to get dogs to their new homes.
