Dogs have nearly 220 million smell-sensitive cells over an area about the size of a hankerchief compared to 5 million over an area the size of a postage stamp for humans.
The royal name, 'King Charles Spaniel' was bestowed during the reign of King Charles II, who was so fond of his spaniels he could not be parted from them.
