After our exciting Logo change at the beginning of this year, I realised it was important that all my old Barking Mad paper was put to good use!
So I have donated the paper to a school in Kenya. The Chance Academy is based in Diani just below Mombasa. It is run by local Pastor Omari and his wife.
It is free for 4-6 year olds to attend, there is one unqualified teacher and the local children attend from 7 am until 1pm each day. The children LOVE this opportunity to go to school and it was a real privilege and thrill to see the Barking Mad paper being put to such good use.
Theo relaxing on his summer break!
Well the summer is finally here and the children are about to start their summer break. My host families are looking forward to a busy and active summer with their visiting four legged friends, so if you have any last minute requests please book now to avoid disappointment.
In May I attended my 8th Annual Conference held in the fabulous Lakeside Hotel on Lake Windermere. We had a fantastic day this year with everyone swapping stories and comparing notes of how we run our Barking Mad businesses. There was lots to discuss including the very exciting showing of our very first advert for Barking Mad! It was great catching up with my fellow Franchisee's as we are all so passionate about Barking Mad and the service we provide.

Barking Mad is proud to be sponsoring the Newark Half Marathon, it is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in the local community and help raise much needed funds for my chosen charity Beaumond House. This annual event started in 1982 and is now returning after a 5 year break.
Although I will not be personally running the marathon, I will have my Barking Mad stand present on the day and will be cheering on all the runners. So please come along and support this event, there are still some spaces available for the half marathon and the fun run so it’s not too late to enter!!
All the details can be found on www.newarkhalfmarathon.co.uk
See you there!
On the 18th of May, I had my annual host gathering at Whittakers restaurant in Long Bennington near Newark. As I enter my 8th year with Barking Mad, it was really great to have Di and Jane, two of my hosts who are still hosting present at the party. They joined the Barking family from my very first newspaper editorial. They both still enjoy having their four legged friends come to stay.
There were lots of new hosts joining the group and they really enjoyed getting to know the other hosts. It was a great opportunity for everyone to also meet Sue and Chris, my new helpers.
Debbie at Whittakers had made some delicious homemade cakes for us all to devour and kept us supplied with lots of fresh tea and coffee. I gave my speech, thanking the hosts for all their continued hard work and commitment in ensuring that all the Barking Mad visitors have a fantastic holiday. A really enjoyable afternoon was had by all and the hosts departed with a little surprise gift of thanks.
I have been lucky enough to find two fantastic people to join me at Barking Mad to help with the day to day running of the service.
Sue comes with some great doggie experience having worked for the RSPCA for the last 25 years. Chris runs a local branch of Oscar’s Pet Food, so if you require any nutritional advice please feel free to ask! Both Sue and Chris have been fully trained in the art of collection and delivery. Sue is also helping out with some of the admin work.
Having now completed their training they are looking forward to meeting you and your dogs over the coming summer months. We will be able to let you know which member of the team you will be meeting when we contact you, a few days prior to your holiday to confirm arrangements.
In November at the Annual Barking Mad Sales meeting I was very grateful to receive the “Team Titanium” Award from Lee Dancy the Founder of Barking Mad. This award is in recognition of my continued success and business growth with Barking Mad.
It has been a great achievement over the last 7 years to steadily grow the business and continue to provide an excellent service to all my customers. It is an achievement I am very proud of!
The Women’s Institute was formed in 1915 to revitalise rural communities. Since then the organisations aims have broadened and the WI is now the largest voluntary women’s organisation in the UK.
The WI plays a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills, to take part in a wide variety of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities.
In 2015 WI members all over the country have been celebrating 100 years ……..
I am delighted to say I met with the WI Newark branch on the 14th October and gave a talk on the benefits of hosting with Barking Mad. The talk was well received and interactive and the WI ladies agreed to spread the word to friends and family about becoming a host for Barking Mad.
