Trustpilot

Meet our new Barking Mad business owners starting dream careers with dogs

Dog sitting professional Lucy Callaway Of Barking Mad Lydney is loving her new career working with dogs

Lucy loves her new Barking Mad lifestyle!

If you have been thinking about careers with dogs recently, you may have considered starting your own business. The definition of a ‘lifestyle business’ is one that is built with the sole purpose of enjoying a particular lifestyle. In other words, a business which enables you to live the life that you want to live. When our Barking Mad franchise owners start their businesses, it is to achieve the dream of working with dogs and dog lovers every day! Our self-employed dog sitting professionals love what they do and have become ‘Barking Mad’ to enjoy a profitable and flexible career, allowing them to have the perfect life-work balance.

A study by Marcketti, Niehm & Fuloria, ‘An Exploratory Study of Lifestyle Entrepreneurship and it’s Relationship to Life Quality’, states:

“Two common themes emerged from the data: enhancement of business owners’ quality of life as a result of the entrepreneurial venture and a perception of the entrepreneurial venture providing enhanced quality of life to employees, customers, and the community.”

Lucy Callaway And Alison Preece New Barking Mad dog sitting business owners

Barking Mad training buddies Lucy and Alison

It all starts with our award winning training

The start of any Barking Mad business begins with a week of comprehensive training at our head office in the Lake District. In April, our training course was attended by Lucy Callaway (also featured with her dogs at the start of the article) and Alison Preece. Both dog sitting professionals have started ‘greenfield’ (brand new) businesses in their local areas.

Lucy is very proud of the newly established Barking Mad Lydney and says,

“My two rescue greyhounds, Pedro and Gabby, are part of my family and much more than just pets; they are my inspiration.”

Alison Preece was delighted to launch Barking Mad Pontypool in her home territory and says,

“I worked in the NHS for fifteen years but after losing my husband, felt I needed a career and lifestyle change. It was whilst researching places for my own two dogs to stay that I came across Barking Mad.  I went to visit Barking Mad HQ and was inspired by their brand story. I knew that starting my own dog sitting business was something I would love to do!”
