In June, team member Cherylyn did a charity skydive and raised over £2,000 for Bladder cancer. She absolutely loved the experience and hopes to "fly like a bird" again soon. Well done Cherylyn!

Bailey brings his paddling pool on holiday!
Here are a few tips to make sure we protect ourselves and our four legged friends from overheating in the hot weather;

Dog are susceptible to sunburn, especially light coloured dogs. Be aware of paws, noses, ears and anywhere that their fur is less dense.

The temperature inside a parked car can soar in just minutes. It is best not to leave any dog in the car for any length of time.

Overheating. If a dog shows any symptoms, get him or her out of the heat.

  •  Walk Your Dog When It's Cooler in the evening
  •  Stay On The grass, walk in the Park or walk on the Beach
  • Wash and check your dogs paws carefully - Moisturise if parched or dry
  • Create shade in your garden
  • Spray the dog with a garden hose or immerse him or her in a tub of cool water
  • Place the dog in front of an electric fan.
  • Applying cool, wet towels to the groin area, stomach, chest, and paws
  • Manage your dog’s activity by putting it on a lead.
  • Carry a water bottle on longer walks

Jerry Green Dog Rescue Summer Show

Kerry Wells and Barking Mad Spalding will be at the Jerry Green Summer Show at Algarkirk, near Boston on Sunday 14th August. Come and support this super Dog Rescue Charity and say Hello!

Happy Ending's from Jerry Green Dog Rescue...

Barking Mad Spalding is going to run a monthly feature from Jerry Green Dog Rescue and if you are considering adopting or supporting a local dog rescue charity, please contact them on 01205 260546.
This is the first feature........

"Monty an 8 year old border collie came into the South Lincolnshire centre of Jerry Green Dog Rescue after his owner sadly passed away. He was a very loved dog and well cared for, but had some issues with loud noises and travelling.

The team worked with Monty on his issues, having him in the office to socialise him and also one of the team taking him home at night so he could have a positive experience in the car and also have some home comforts while waiting for his new forever home.

Monty was with Jerry Green’s for less than a month before he found his new home and family. They were willing to carry on the positive training to help him adjust to a new life. So far this year we have rehomed just over 100 dogs to their new forever homes, but there is always more dogs waiting to find their new families"

A Hosts Perspective

"We have always been owned by dogs and after the passing of the last one in our family pack ,we wanted another canine companion but with the arrival of grandchildren ,we realised that we could not undertake the full time commitment of pet ownership.
We met Barking Mad Kerry, who explained how Barking Mad hosting works and very importantly to a host , Kerry or one of her team is always at the end of the phone should there be any sort of problem to take over and deal with it.
Within weeks we were signed up and welcoming our first guests. For the last seven happy years we have hosted canine guests of all shapes and sizes. We get so much enjoyment seeing them settle into our home and their trust in us to give them a great holiday. Many come back time after time and we feel part of their extended family when they rush in, tails wagging and ready for the fun to begin .Most of them enjoy long walks in the Lincolnshire countryside, whilst the older and less able prefer to snooze on the sofa and get extra cuddles! Barking Mad has provided us with a perfect life balance, time for our family and holidays and relaxation time with wonderful hand picked cherished family dogs that fit into our lives so well."

Lynda and Michael - Spalding (Hosts for Barking Mad Kerry).

Conf photo.jpgApril 2015 - Barking Mad Annual Conference

I was delighted to receive the "Bright Ideas" award at the Barking Mad Conference which was awarded for sharing the concept of Host Coffee mornings.

“Kerry Wells has clearly demonstrated that a positive mental attitude along with a clear focus for delivering exception care for customers and hosts alike, are the key ingredients for running a successful business. Kerry has always contributed well to the Barking Mad business and is definitely an idea’s person who’s always willing to share her successes with fellow franchisees from across the UK. Her latest ‘Host Family Coffee Morning’ concept won her the Bright Ideas 2015 Award." Lee Dancy, Founder and Managing Director, Barking Mad Ltd.

Molly’s Story
I regularly keep in touch with Dog Rescue Charities via Facebook and Twitter, so back in May 2013 a little terrier face popped up on my screen asking for a loving home. Her name is Molly and she had been ill treated, tethered for possibly years and then abandoned in Romania. She also was epileptic! Molly reminded me very much of my dear departed Terrier called Archie who also had epilepsy.

She had been rescued by an organisation in Romania and a Dog Rescue Charity in the UK had decided to give her a chance and hope of a loving home and transported her here.

Much to my partner’s amazement, I decided to initially foster her and then adopt. He felt to go through the worry of another epileptic dog (and one that was uninsurable for that condition) was quite frankly mad!

So forward to October 2015 – Molly is the sweetest, most affectionate and happy little companion. She gets on well with my other Jack Russell, Harvey– though she is definitely in charge! She does have regular seizures but I am organised and not fazed by them and most importantly have a wonderful host who looks after her when I go on holiday!

It could be said that there are many rescue dogs in the UK that need good homes and I would absolutely agree with that, however she was the right dog at the right time and deserved that home with us! As for my partner - he loves her as much as I do!

The Dog Rescue Charity that Molly came from is Safe Rescue Dogs Needing Homes

Their motto is: Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever.
