Summer News update

We’ve had a brilliant summer – so far!

It was a lovely day on the 13th August and lots of people and dogs really enjoyed the Ham Hill Fun Dog Show.
There were lots of classes for both pedigree and crossbred four legged friends and we made the most of meeting them as you can see from the pictures!

Nicole and Jaz from the Bath and North Somerset Branch joined us and made PeaMutt butter cakes for the dogs to enjoy!

Our next show of the season is at Ferne Animal Sanctuary for their dog show. It promises to be another fabulous day out for the family and their furry companions, why not bring your dog along and join in a class or two?

Both Naomi and I are really looking forward to going to the Ham Hill Fun Dog show this year! It’s the first time we have attended the event and we can’t wait to meet lots of new four-legged friends there. Nicole and Jaz from the Bath and North Somerset branch of Barking Mad are also going to join us and have promised to make some home baked biscuits for all the dogs that come to visit us.
We are also sponsoring the Best Cross Breed Class – so why not bring your companion to take part in that or another class?

Sea Dogs Festival – Burnham-on-Sea

We had a fabulous time at the Sea Dogs Festival at Burnham-on-Sea in April, the weather was amazing for April and we met lots of people and their four-legged friends who were interested in chatting about alternatives for kennels and the dog holiday care that we at Barking Mad Taunton provide.

We are looking forward to more shows and events this summer – watch this space for details!

Dreams Take Flight With Big Competition Win!

Delia Kiddle of Drayton was blown away to be announced a winner of a Virgin Balloon Flight, in a national free prize draw!

The chance to see beautiful Britain from a totally amazing new perspective, was offered by local 5* dog holiday specialists, Barking Mad Taunton in a very exciting and uplifting competition. The big question now is who Delia will invite to ‘come fly with me!’

Delia and her husband have always wanted to go up in a hot air balloon – and they are really excited to finally get the chance of a dream coming true! They hope to go in the spring to enjoy the wonderful views of Somerset at that time of year.

Naomi and Amy of Barking Mad said:

“We are so excited to announce a winner for this experience of a lifetime! We were delighted to hear the excitement in Delia’s voice when we rang to give her the good news – she’d even forgotten that she had ever entered so it was even more of a lovely surprise.

Delia is the lucky winner of a luxury hamper which includes two tickets for a Virgin Balloon flight and champagne and chocolates to celebrate the occasion.

She is pictured below with her daughter Matilda, dog Molly and Naomi from Barking Mad Taunton.

August 2016

This lovely photo was taken by one of our wonderful hosts while looking after Basil the Bernese Mountain Dog on one of his recent holidays with Barking Mad Taunton.
Basil is one of our regular customers who comes out several times a year – he has become a firm favourite with every host that he has stayed with as he is such an easy going gentle giant!

We are always on the lookout for new hosts, so if you would like to have a canine house guest like Basil (or you know someone who would!) please get in touch.

We had two brilliant days at the two shows that we attended at the end of July – first was the Ferne Animal Sanctuary Open day. This was a fabulous day for all the family with lots to see and do, it was great to have Naomi back for the day to meet lots of new people and get lots of entries for the Champagne Balloon Flight competition!

The following day was the Forde Abbey Summer Fair – another amazing event with a Dog Show as part of the attractions. We met lots of dogs of all shapes and sizes and had even more entries for the competition! We also gained a new host, Kay, who is looking forward to her first canine house guest in September.

dog.jpg BUSY, BUSY, BUSY
July is looking to be one of our busiest months of the year so far, especially the beginning  of the summer holidays – our host diary is looking jam packed! However, there are still a  few spaces so it is always worth getting in contact and checking even if it is a bit of a last  minute booking!

We had one of our first international customers in June – this is the gorgeous Flash who  is a Flat Coated Retriever, he usually lives in Switzerland with his family however they  holiday in the UK every year and had a family wedding to attend whilst they were here.  Which all meant that we had the pleasure of Flash’s company for a few days!
He was a wonderful house guest and I know he will be very welcome in the future.

abby.jpgDon’t forget that we will also be at the Forde Abbey Summer Fair the following day Thursday 29th July, so if you can’t make the Ferne open day why not pop along to this fantastic event?!the first Wednesday of the school holidays (28th July). So if you are stuck for something to do come down and visit us – it is a great day out for all the family!

We have a stall at the Forde Abbey Summer Fair on 28th July this year. This is a fabulous event which raises money for charity and there is also a dog show. Registration will take place on the day itself from 11.30am. There will be 15 assorted classes, for both pedigree and novelty breeds (including best mover, most attractive dog and bitch, best child handler) running throughout the day.

May 2016

We have now been running Barking Mad Taunton for a whole year and have had a fantastic time! Some of you may know that Naomi is currently taking time off from the business as she has just had a baby – a little boy called Bradley, and is looking to return to work in the Autumn. So to help me while she is away we have two wonderful new team members Catherine and Cher. Both of them will be helping out with the collections and returns of dogs for their holiday’s so I’m sure if you haven’t met them yet you soon will!

Catherine Barking Mad Taunton.jpg

Catherine has been working with us since February and is very experienced with

Cher Barking Mad Taunton.jpgdogs having owned several different breeds including German Shorthaired Pointers in the past.

She is also a very keen cyclist and when she is not working for us can often be seen riding through the glorious Somerset country lanes.

Cher has also been working for us since early this year and is really enjoying getting to meet the customers and hosts. She has recently organised a host get-together for us which was a great success.
Cher also has been associated with this branch of Barking Mad for several years and was originally a host for Rob Schuler (the previous franchisee). She has lots of experience with all different shapes and sizes of dogs and still loves to have doggie house guests when she is not working for us!
