July 2017

Summer 2017’s proving to be just as busy, if not more so than last summer! We’ve met some new friends who’ve enjoyed their first taste of a 5* Barking Mad holiday, and caught up with plenty of old friends too . . . . . . . Charley, Grace, Jack and Toby are just a few of the new friends we’ve made.

In June we spent a fantastic weekend in Bakewell at Dogs Unleashed! The sun shone most of the time and we met literally hundreds of fabulous dogs, plus their owners of course. Bailey, the Puli was a first for us, and what a gorgeous dog he is . . . . . just look at that coat!

Of course we couldn’t have managed without Meg and Ollie on hand to supervise us setting
up our stand!

A date for your diary . . . . . . August 26th is the Gritstone Charity Walk. An event organised by one of our fantastic hosts on behalf of the Rotary Club. There’s a choice of 5 different walks depending upon your fitness level, and if you want to you can raise sponsorship to support a charity of your choice. We’ll be taking part and have chosen to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer Research, and we’re encouraging all our customers and hosts alike to get involved if they can. It costs just £5 to enter, part of which goes towards the cost of organising the event with the remainder going to the Rotary Club.
Well behaved dogs are most welcome and there’s food, drink and entertainment available at the end of the walk . . . . . . we’d like to see as many people as possible joining in on the day so please visit http://www.gritstonewalk.org.uk/ and download your entry form and sponsorship form today!

May 2017

Well what an exciting time we’ve been having and there’s more to come!

Firstly, there’s the brand new TV ad everyone’s talking about starring #CelebrityDogHobbes, if you haven’t
seen it yet you can watch it on facebook here:https://business.facebook.com/BarkingMadDogCare/videos/1400705313327510/ Barking Mad Dog Care or tune into daytime TV where it can be seen on numerous channels including Sky Living, ITV2, ITV3 and MORE 4.

                                         TV Ad.jpg

Say hello to Sue. Sue joined our Barking Mad team on a part time basis in April; keep an eye out for Sue as she’s going to be out and about in the community talking about her favourite passion . . . . . dogs! and of course, Barking Mad.
Sue loves all animals and has 2 border collies as well as 3 rabbits and a guinea pig, all of them rescues from the local rescue centre where she helps out as a volunteer.

June promises to be another busy month with local shows coming up not to mention all the doggy holidays we’ve organised.

We’re looking forward to visiting DogFest again this year at Arley Hall, Cheshire. Fingers crossed we’ll get to meet ‘Supervet’ Noel while we’re there and of course lots of lovely doggies . . . . . .

                                               dogs unleashed.jpg

and then there’s Dogs Unleashed on June 24th – 25th at Bakewell Showground, that promises to be a fabulous weekend with lots going on. We’ll be there together with Louise from Barking Mad Chesterfield and we’d love to see lots of our customers and friends during the weekend, so why not come along and say hello!

April 2017

Barking Mad has a brand new look for 2017 that reflects our absolute love of dogs and the wonderful home from home holidays they enjoy with us. Our car has now had its makeover which we think looks fab, so keep a sharp eye out for us travelling around East Cheshire and the High Peak – if you spot us, remember to give us a wave!

We are very conscious that we can’t always accommodate every dog who wants to holiday with us, so we’re pulling out all the stops to recruit additional dog loving hosts.

Perhaps you, or someone you know, would enjoy the company of a dog at a time that suits you and your lifestyle? As long as you have time available we would love to hear from you. Our hosts are generally retired people, families, or people working from home who all love the companionship of a four legged friend. Hosts often say their house feels empty when they don’t have a dog to care for and look forward to the next one arriving. Every dog enjoys having a little holiday of their own!

December 2016

It’s the end of 2016, our busiest year yet! So what better way to celebrate than by spending a little time reflecting on some of the beautiful new four legged friends we have made, and the wonderful holidays they’ve enjoyed with our very special hosts. So here are just a few of their fabulous holiday snaps!

                                                               Ruby (002).jpg

Ruby had great fun helping her host’s daughter celebrate her 9th birthday.

                       Baggins.jpg                         Rex.jpg

Baggins explored the Peak District                       Rex delighted in getting all muddy!

                      Bonnie.jpg                Tash.jpg
Bonnie looking pretty as a picture            Tash enjoyed a quiet moments contemplation

We often receive enquiries from people looking for care for their paw pals while they get married, but it’s not often that one of our regular customers ties the knot!  So we were absolutely delighted when we learnt that Finn’s mum was getting married this summer. Of course, we couldn’t let the occasion go by without Finn making an appearance, and our lovely host Barbara was only too delighted to take him along.

Marie very kindly sent us this photo of the 3 of them on the big day.

If you’re planning a wedding in 2017 and will need care for your four legged friend, please don’t leave it to the last minute – places are limited particularly during the summer!

August 2016

Whew! What a busy summer we’re having, and what fantastic holidays your four legged friends have enjoyed with our wonderful host families . . . . . . We love all the beautiful photos we’ve seen, not to mention the great postcards your pooches have gone home with.

Our hosts really are very special people who love providing your beloved pet with a safe and happy holiday home; often caring for the same dogs time after time, it really does become a HOME-FROM-HOME holiday for your dog.

Coko and Harvey.jpg

Coko (seen here on the left) is a regular guest who loves to holiday with Harvey, and as you can see she makes herself completely at home. Here she is happily snoozing on Harvey’s bed while he squeezes himself onto hers! Harvey is also a customer and enjoys his own 5* vacations with Barking Mad.

Our business continues to grow steadily and with an ever increasing demand we are always on the lookout for more host families to join our team. So if you or someone you know would love the fun of a four legged guest from time to time, please give us a call on 01260 278628, or email kings@barkingmad.uk.com.

June 2016

A great time was had by all at the Fun Dog Show held last month to raise funds for Tails Animal Rescue despite the rainy start. It could have been a very wet day for Barking Mad though when we discovered the roof to our gazebo was still in the garage!! Thankfully, we were able to borrow a gazebo so all was not lost.

Barbara, one of our wonderful hosts came along on the day to help out and it was lovely to see some of our fabulous doggy friends who also turned up on the day.

The fancy dress class proved very popular, as did the egg and spoon race.

Summer is gearing up to be busier than ever, with lots of our four legged friends already booked in for their holidays. In fact, our service is proving so popular that we’re looking for additional host families to join our ever growing team. So if you, or someone you know loves dogs, has time to spare and would love to give one of our canine friends a holiday home please get in touch – we’d love to hear from you.

April 2016

Spring has finally sprung and we’ve been busy registering new customers and arranging sleepovers in preparation for holidays to come, not to mention welcoming on board some fantastic new host families! One of our host families also got a lovely surprise when Millie, their Labrador gave birth to 8 puppies . . . . . . the vet could only see 3 when she was scanned! We’re delighted to report that all 8 are doing well and Millie is proving to be a wonderful mum.

March saw us out and about in Lyme Park joining Dog Walk.jpgThe Great British
Dog Walk where we met lots of beautiful dogs and their owners, not to mention some of our wonderful customers. We were blessed with sunshine and over £2,000 was raised on behalf of Hearing Dogs for
Deaf People.

Tails Dog Show.jpg

On Saturday 21st May we will be at the Leigh Arms in Acton Bridge where Tails Animal Rescue are holding a Fun Dog Show, so make a note in your diary for what promises to be a great day out for all the family and be sure to visit our stall!

January 2016

What a busy month with customers booking holidays early to make sure they get their dogs favourite host, and as we roll on into Spring we’d like to remind you to get in touch as soon as you book your holiday while we still have some places left!

Pet Bereavement; something none of us want to think about but is inevitable.
HPPFS Logo.jpgOur dogs are very much a member of the family, and yet when they are nearing the end of life we rarely have a funeral plan. Whilst vets provide an excellent service, how sure can you be that the ashes you receive back after cremation are 100% your dogs?

Recently, this was brought home to us when we met with Tony Welling who owns High Peak Pet Funeral Services. Tony showed us around and explained how each beloved pet is treated individually; the cremation chamber is thoroughly cleaned between each cremation so you can be absolutely guaranteed the ashes you receive are your pets and only your pets. There is also a family room where you can say a private farewell before cremation, and can wait to receive your pets ashes to take home.

It was very apparent to us how much Tony cares and understands what his clients are going through.

In the run up to Christmas we had a stall at St John’s church in Buxton for their ‘Christmas Box of Delights’. There was singing to entertain us and plenty of coffee and cakes to be had, not to mention some unique craft stalls. We met lots of lovely people who were very keen to find out more about Barking Mad, two of whom have now joined our team of very special host families!

Lola.jpgOur Barking Mad Bags are proving very popular and we’ve been busy handing them out to our customers when their furry pal has booked a holiday. If you haven’t received yours yet and have a holiday booked in, please let us know and we’ll be sure to bring one with us when we collect your dog!

and here’s the lovely Lola modelling her Barking Mad holiday bag!

Autumn 2015

Autumn has truly arrived . . . . . the leaves on the trees are changing colour and beginning to fall! With the busy summer behind us we now have time to reflect on what a fabulously time our furry friends had. We saw lots of our regular canine friends return for another fun packed holiday with their favourite hosts, while others decided to try our service for the first time.

Tilly Angie.jpg

Tilly, now a gangly 1 year old has been enjoying regular holidays with host Angie since she was just 5 months old.

And first time holiday maker Dora spent a fabulous couple of weeks with hosts Gill and Phil

Doggie Dash.jpg

Sasha got involved in a charity dog walk while on her holiday, and even won a prize!

Our hosts get great satisfaction from caring for their four legged guests and have all had a wonderful time this summer. They love to read our customers comments and are all looking forward to more doggy holidays to come.

If you, or someone you know would like to join in the fun with Barking Mad, then give us a call, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
