Welcome to your local Barking Mad branch! We operate five-star rated dog boarding in your region, the leading dog care service in Cotswolds. We make it our priority to offer the ideal ‘dog holiday’ experience by designing personalised care in a dedicated host home.
For many dog owners, the notion of leaving the pet they love in a kennel setting is a real fear. Many of these settings provide the sort of dog care that involves grouping many animals together for mass feeding and exercise times. The problem with this is that it doesn’t give any thought to the importance of personalised routines and preferences. It can be a real cause of anxiety for any dog owner who wants to go on holiday, or has to be away for a time due to work or personal commitments.
The concern and anxiety that can accompany a period of separation can be a real issue whenever a dog is away from the people and items that populate their daily lives. As a dog lover, you will know exactly how perceptive your dog can be. For example, just think about their automatic response the last time that you grabbed your keys to head out of the house, or began to open your suitcases in anticipation of an upcoming trip. Dogs are truly loyal pack animals, it’s a part of their nature, and they see themselves as part of your family group. The problem is, with the circumstances of human life, these separations inevitably happen from time to time.
Thankfully, here at Barking Mad, the nation’s best dog sitting service, we’re able to reduce the anxiety that can be caused to yourself and your dog during those stretches when you do have to be away. We will make sure your pet is matched with the ideal hosts who love dogs and will keep closely to our strict pet care guidelines. We will also make sure that your dog is able to feel totally at home in their new environment by encouraging you to pack a few home comforts for them. You might choose their most beloved toy, a favourite bag of treats or their own bowl. Even just one or two of these objects can help to offer a feel of home that can minimise your dog’s level of anxiety. It can settle their mood and connect their senses with those recognisable sights and smells, allowing your dog to feel more comfortable in their setting.
With a team of expert staff who make sure to regularly vet all of our hosts on our database. We can guarantee that our clients will get the best care around. We understand just how helpful it is to factor in all the key facets of your dog’s routine. We give a great level of focus to being aware of your dog’s preferences. We know that keeping to their regular walking and feeding times goes a long way to ensuring your dog’s happiness in the host home. We are also able to provide additional support with nutrition and medication. Our host families are all dog lovers and we support them in providing the best care possible to your favourite animal.
We are recognised as the UK’s best dog boarding service in Cotswolds, and it’s not just us saying that. Have a look through our review pages, which have been independently verified. We ask our clients to provide a testimonial on their experience, which is clearly visible higher up the page. The reviews provide first-hand evidence that we’re a five-star service. It’s fantastic to know that people who really love their dogs think so highly of Barking Mad!
We understand that it’s a great comfort to be updated on your dog’s holiday when you’re away, so we’ve made it part of our service. We send you over a few pictures, as well as a holiday postcard, to offer you some additional peace of mind knowing that your dog is enjoying their holiday as much as you’re enjoying yours! We know that knowing your dog is having a great time can really help you to relax. Additionally, should your dog need any additional help, our team of experts are able to handle any eventuality, with a 24-hour top quality service.
Here at Barking Mad, we’re proud to offer the best dog sitting service in Cotswolds but this isn’t the only branch available. We’ve developed a network of branches nationwide, so if you’re ever looking for a dog boarding service in another area, we should be on hand locally. Our service can provide care for varying time scales, from a single day through to a few weeks.
In establishing Barking Mad in 2000, we had the intention of providing dog lovers just like ourselves with the five-star personalised service that they needed. We created our entire system to provide an unrivalled individual service at competitive prices. Unlike many other companies, we don’t settle for occasional visits to your house to walk and feed your dog. We understand that your dog needs care and attention throughout the day. Beginning the process is simple; all it takes is to give us a call on 01524 220202, or send us an email at email@example.com. Why not get in touch today? We’d be happy to chat, meet you and your dog and get them the best care while you’re away.

The best bit for us is seeing dogs happily settled-in and comfortable with their host. We will, wherever possible, be sure to use the same family each time you book a holiday. There are no minimum or maximum time limits we’re here whenever you need us.
Ask for your loyalty card. When your card is full you receive a FREE stay on us! (1 full card = 28 paw stamps).
If you love dogs but can’t commit to the full time financial and emotional responsibility of having a dog of your own, or if you have a very sociable dog who would benefit from visiting guests coming to stay, then you’ve come to the right place!
Our very own host families are extremely special people indeed. They have been selected carefully and interviewed in depth at home to ensure they meet our criteria. We get to know them really well and have worked with many of them for a great number of years.
Who are our hosts
It goes without saying, all of our hosts, without exception, are absolutely dotty about dogs. Some are actively retired people who’ve had dogs all of their lives but now enjoy the freedom and flexibility of caring for dogs on holiday. Others are younger, often with a family at home, where the addition of a visiting dog is great fun for all.
How it works
We’ve done all the hard work so you don’t have to. We think it’s important that our hosts concentrate on looking after visiting dogs and that they are not exposed to, or distracted by a constant flow of potential customers and dogs coming and going. Our hosts are also protected from the awkwardness of dealing with money, insurance and paperwork, so that the enjoyment of looking after visiting dogs remains their focus.
Support 24 Hours a Day – 7 Days a Week
Looking after someone else’s dog is great fun, however from time to time you may need a little local, on the ground support and it’s great to know we’re on hand 24/7 to provide just that.
If you’re interested in joining our fun, dog loving host community to become a pet sitter we’d love to hear from you.

"We recently had Fozzie for several days it was such a joy to have him my dog Wiggles loves him a lot.
My whole family love him as did our friends where we walk every day.

"We enjoy looking after peoples dogs as it gives us pleasure to think they have come from home to home. Sometimes our commitments are heavy but It fits in with our lifestyle as we can do it as and when we can. It gives us pleasure and hopefully the pets enjoy our company too. Barking Mad are efficiently run and if I had a dog of my own would gladly let them find a host for my."

"Lulu has just been to me on her fourth visit. We've both had a lovely time and it seems strange today without her. She is well known and well loved by my friends and neighbours now as well as the local dogs. We all look forward to seeing her again soon."
Jackie - 6th Jan, 2017
"We had the pleasure of looking after Pip for 2 weeks over Christmas this year! We all loved having him for his 2nd visit with us. We enjoyed the walks (even in the cold and sometimes wet) and my children loved his company too!
I would love to have a dog of my own sometime soon, but looking after dogs with Barking Mad gives me the opportunity to see how a dog would fit into our lives, what challenges it might bring and what delights too! I can test out different breeds and ages too in case I go down the rescue dog route!
Definitely a win win option."
Brenda - 6th Jan, 2017
"We recently had Molly come to stay we all fell in love with her. My dog Wiggles loved her too
She was so good and had us laughing when she showed attention to the Tv.
We enjoyed her company and will look forward to her coming to see us again.

"We thought the service we got from Emily at Barking Mad was very professional - the information we received on Inca prior to our having her was very precise and made our experience all the better. It was good to know she was at the end of the phone especially as this was our first time. Inca was a pleasure to have and as advised needed lots of love and attention which we certainly gave her. We look forward to the next time to host again. Many thanks."

"Lulu has just gone home after seventeen nights with me. This is the longest stay I've had but it wasn't too long. She is a delightful, easy dog to look after who quickly makes herself at home.
This is the third time she's been to me and I look forward to her next visit."
Brenda - 4th Oct, 2016
"I think Barking Mad is such a lovely idea as the dogs can visit families a bit of a holiday whilst their owners have a holiday too.
We recently enjoyed a visit from a beautiful dog Fozzie he settled into our home quite happily and we enjoyed him too.
Animals need to feel secure with no worries and fitting into a family environment makes for a happy doggie I think Barking Mad is a very good idea
I will look forward to the next vistor on four legs."
Jackie - 12th Sep, 2016
"I have recently looked after Pip for just over a week and really enjoyed it. I am looking to have a dog myself but want to be 100% sure I am doing the right thing before I take the plunge.
I love that with barking mad you get lots of help and support while looking after someone else's precious dog. If you have a problem or the dog becomes unwell you also know that help is at hand. I found the experience rewarding and it was lovely having Pip stay with us. The problem is we missed him when he was gone...
I would like to continue looking after dogs with barking mad.

"Hugo has just had two weeks holiday with me. As a lively two-year-old Springer he was more of a challenge than I've had before but I loved it, and him. We walked many miles and I managed to loose some weight. An added bonus for me!
I think Hugo enjoyed having my undivided attention and he certainly made the most of it. I always think about how I would like my own dog to feel - happy, secure, content, and loved."

"Hello I love having the dogs it gets me out and about too..I am fairly new to the neighbourhood. And I have met people that I would not have met if I was not hosting. All the dogs I have had since I've been hosting have been very good I love them all. I wish I could have some of the small dogs back I had last year!. Posted by Linda"

"I love being a host we find it encourages us to go out more and explore dog friendly places so we get loads of fresh air and exercise. We have the peace of mind that Barking Mad are on the end of a phone if we need them for any reason and its a great way of having a dog without the costs involved. Also if your lifestyle means you cannot have a dog then this is a great alternative. I would definitely recommend it as all the dogs we have had have been easy to care for and friendly, the hardest part is saying goodbye but because you know they will probably have another holiday before too long you don't get upset you just look forward to their next stay."
Anne and David - 28th Jun, 2016
"Hosting a dog gives us a lot of pleasure and is very rewarding. We have only been hosting dogs for 3 months but we're really enjoying it. It gives you the satisfaction of knowing that each dog has had a lot of love and a good home from home holiday. We treat every dog as if it was ours, taking note of the pet profile guidelines. It is a great help knowing that you have the back-up of Barking Mad should anything untoward happen, which gives us peace of mind. John has been excellent matching us with the dogs we've hosted so far."
Brian and Carole - 8th Apr, 2016
"We have been hosting for 18 months now and have come to know the regular dogs we have. The owners have requested many times that they like them to go back to the same host. We find it rewarding that they make these requests.
Nicola is always very careful to match the host and dog and this shows in the requests she gets.
Keep up the good work. A perfect match makes a happy owner, dog and host.
Barking mad prides itself on this and Nicola and her team work very hard to make this happen.
We have just got another first time little doggy today and we hope that he will want to come back again.
A big thankyou to all the team."
Celia - 6th Apr, 2016
"Archie has just gone home after his second visit. He's the most affectionate little dog I've met. Really loving, kind, and gentle. He can be a bit naughty sometimes but we suit one another well and both thoroughly enjoyed our week."
Gwen - 31st Mar, 2016
"We have just had a second visit from a lovely dog that we first met over last Xmas. Having become very fond of her the first time, it was lovely to see her again. She settled more quickly this visit, and was very relaxed. We really enjoyed our time with her, and look forward to her next visit."
Gwen - 24th Mar, 2016
"We have just had a beautiful golden labrador to share our lives with for the past nine days. He was delightful, really good around other dogs and children, and a joy to be with. I'm looking forward to having him to stay again."
Pam - 18th Mar, 2016
"We have just said goodbye to our latest doggy client and thoroughly enjoyed having him here.
He settled in straight away, was friendly and playful. We never imagined choosing this breed ourselves but he's now a very firm favourite and today the house seems empty without him. Hope to look after him again sometime."
Gwen - 14th Mar, 2016
"I enjoy doing the best I can to make sure that my doggy guest feels relaxed, cared for and loved whilst they're away from home. This is what I would want for my own dog, when I have to go away on holiday, so I find it very rewarding to provide this for other people and their dogs."
Jenny - 8th Feb, 2016
"For me, the best part of being a Barking Mad host is getting to know all the different doggie personalities and making friendships with them, particularly when my new houseguest could be feeling a little bit homesick."
Margaret & Stan - 26th Jan, 2016
"We have thoroughly enjoyed hosting a lot of Barking Mad dogs over the last seven years. We have always had terrific support from Brad and team and prior to that from Chris and Alex. In all that time we have only needed help once during a visit, for minor veterinary attention, and that was dealt with very quickly and efficiently. I think this is because the dogs are well matched to their hosts (and the hosts own dogs!) in the first place. We also use Barking Mad for our own dogs holidays."
Adam - 22nd Jan, 2016
"When we moved to Dundee we both missed not having a dog in our lives. Being a host for Barking Mad gave us the opportunity to have that again, even though giving them back at the end is always hard.
It allowed us to see how well having a dog would fit into our lives in a full time situation, and directly influenced our decision to get our own. Now we look forward to hosting other dogs for Angus to play with.
As hosts, the support you receive from Brad is amazing and the detail he goes into to facilitate yours and the dogs well being is incredible.
I would thoroughly recommend anyone who wants to have a visitor now and again, someone who misses the company of the dog but has commitments and everybody who wants a dog but is not sure if it will work to become a host with Barking Mad, you won't regret it!"
Lorna - 22nd Jan, 2016
"I have been a host for several years, I started with Barking Mad as I wanted to have a dog but visiting family in the south made it impractical, so when I am home I have a dog, I have had a great variety of dogs from a little Jack Russell to a huge mountain dog. Barking mad is great because they match dogs with their hosts in all the years of hosting I have never had a dog that I would not have again. Hosting dogs means I go out everyday, I talk to many people and share doggie stories."
Ed and Barbara - 22nd Jan, 2016
"Having a four-legged lodger for a few days is always a pleasure. Still getting over the loss of our own dog but nothing cheers you up more than another wagging tail around the house. Great support from Brad and his team. If only he could do something about this awful Scottish weather."
Kate & Graham - 20th Jan, 2016
"We live in Shirley and have local parks, woods and fields nearby. Whatever the weather we love taking the dogs out and about. They have joined us for barbecues, street parties and made visits to a local elderly care home. Our grandchildren have learned to overcome their fear of dogs by meeting our 'guests'.Having a dog keeps us fit and healthy too. Our garden is large and well fenced so the dogs can enjoy chasing squirrels!
We would love to have a dog of our own but with working full-time until recently and travelling it never seemed the right time. Having dogs for Barking Mad has 'filled the need'. We have had so many dogs to stay (and everyone a pleasure) and one in particular has come twice a year since 2008.
Tina organises things so well - she 'matches' the right dog to the right host - so everyone is happy ( most of all the dog!)"
Susan - 20th Jan, 2016
"I love being a host for dogs with Barking Mad, and enjoy meeting the different visiting dogs, and getting to know each ones individual personality."
Sandra & Terry - 19th Jan, 2016
"We love being hosts to barking mad, Terry is around most of the day, and I work 4 days a week, so we can have doggies almost all the time other than we are on our hols !!, we already have our fav’s Bruno, Bentley, Darcy , Biscuit, Ben the boxer & Gunner, and Tina will try her up most so we can have them on repeat hols, it means a lot to us as we love looking after all the little & big ones, and they all have there own little characters, we have photos of all the dogs we have had since July last year, and look forward to seeing them all again this year, and miss them when they go home, It’s a pleasure to look after doggies on there hols, & and its filled a gap since loosing a couple of our own pets last year,"
Jenny, John and Jean - 15th Jan, 2016
"Being an animal lover - I love working with Barking Mad and being a host for them. I especially like having their beautiful doggies to stay. The doggies all have their own very different characters and we have some good times filled with really good fun and laughs with the doggies that stay with us.
We all really enjoy having the pets and get out and about and sometimes on the odd occasion we take them out to other parks and places close to home. Its just like having your own pet!
I do like the events and walks that Tina at Barking Mad arranges. Its a chance to get out with other hosts and meet them and hear their tales as a host.
I recall a fete we went to lovely sunny day with lots of dogs and we all had such a great time, I recall feeling quite sorry when the fete ended."
Tracey - 15th Jan, 2016
"We have been hosting since last summer and really enjoy the experience and getting to know the personalities of the dogs, even the cheeky ones !
I particularly like walking in the fields and woods nearby with my host dogs as company, and its great exercise too.
Rosina - 15th Jan, 2016
"I first looked after dogs in 2005 & have kept photos of all my visitors. After a break, came back to it a couple of years ago. I have had Millie two years running & cannot wait to greet her again in July, it feels like a special friend spending her holiday with me :)"
Gwen - 8th Jan, 2016
"Sheba, a beautiful Belgian Shepherd dog, was my first experience with 'Barking Mad'. She was adorable, very gentle, and well behaved. She seemed to fall in love with my partner - maybe she saw him as her temporary pack leader - and we both really enjoyed her company over the Christmas period. Having lost my own much loved collie of over 15 years, in October, I had felt lost without a dog to love and care for - so being a 'Barking Mad' host was ideal for me. We're so looking forward to our next doggie guest, and also hope to see Sheba again at some time in the future."
Celia - 8th Jan, 2016
"My last visitor, Pip, was an absolute sweetie. A breed I've not had experience of before and a real delight. She came to me for just a few days before going on to her regular family.
She loved her bed - well actually my bed - and when she was ready to go up at night she would stand at the bottom of the stairs, with one paw on the bottom step, and stare at me until I gave in."
Elaine - 9th Nov, 2015
"We really love our holiday dogs, we like to spoil them, love them, lots of cuddles and make sure they are really happy with us, it's lovely to get the same dog(s) over and over again, they just make themselves at home, and all our dogs know where the 'treat' cupboard is.. We get such a lot of love from them and look forward to them returning."
Sarah and Stan - 9th Nov, 2015
"We adore having new Barking Mad dogs come to stay and love it even more when they return for second and third visits. Its such a pleasure to spend time with these much loved dogs and take them for walks on the beach and around the countryside. We know that when our 'crazy' Collie goes to stay with a Barking Mad host, she will be safe, happy, and much loved."
Liz - 4th Nov, 2015
"We have really enjoyed hosting our last two dogs, Nelson and Finn. As a family we enjoy meeting the new dogs and letting them be a part of our family, albeit only for a while. It is good to know if we have any issues we can just call Emily. We hope to keep hosting even when we get our own dog, (something my husband would never have agreed to until he realized how complete a dog makes a home)."
Debra - 4th Nov, 2015
"We have had a full calendar for October starting with a surprise arrival as another host was sadly taken poorly. Ruby arrived within 40 minutes of the phone call but soon settled in and became a family favorite. Then came Azi, she takes over our lives but ooh how we love her. Lastly we had Jess, an old lurcher who turned into a puppy again when it was walkies time. Each very different but all very lovable."
Diana - 15th Oct, 2015
"I have always had dogs since I was born, having lived on a farm. I cannot remember ever being without dogs. Now I am on my own it is great to have more than one dog.
I am a dog lover, plus Kali my lab just love to go on walks and have company at home.
So we are both very happy bunnies"
Nicky - 13th Oct, 2015
"I started pet sitting nine years ago for Barking Mad.
It is very enjoyable and I love the country and Beach Walks. I have to make an effort to get out with the dogs here.
I have many regulars that come year after year. Each dog has its separate character. With the pairs I love watching the integration between the two dogs.
I work for Ian Carney who pays a lot of attention to detail, doesn't mind going over things with me if I am not sure and always makes sure the dog is familiar with my bungalow before he leaves. He always promptly answers the phone and I feel that I am not alone with the responsibility of someone else's dog.
My life would be empty without Barking Mad.

Carole - 21st Sep, 2015
"Nicola and her team always go the extra mile to ensure they are acting in the dogs best interest. If there is any doubt about a dogs health she will always act accordingly so that the owners can rest assured that there dog will get the best possible attention and the owner can relax and enjoy their holiday. We have always welcomed all our lovely dogs for holidays and they enjoy their stay.
Keep up the good work and keep sending these lovely dogs for their holidays that they can enjoy.
A first class team who cares unreservably for the dogs in their care. Posted by Carole"

"We have just enjoyed a lovely long weekend with Roxy the staffy. She is so well behaved we hardly knew she was there but now she has gone our home is a quieter sadder place. This is why we love Barking Mad as each dog gives us a smile!"
Sarah and Stan - 9th Sep, 2015
"We love taking our four legged holiday friends for walks through the fields and to the beach, Its a privilege to get to know the new dogs and become friends and really special when they come back to us for a repeat holiday full of cuddles and fun."
Angela - 21st Aug, 2015
"I have just become a host for Barking Mad and recently cared for my first dog, a lovely old Labrador. He fitted in so well with my own two dogs and I thoroughly enjoyed giving him a special holiday for a few days and am really looking forward to helping out again. It is something very dear to my heart and feel I am being of use to others in providing a safe and welcoming home from home for someone's beloved pet. Plus my own pets also enjoy the company."
Elaine - 21st Aug, 2015
"We love looking after our holiday dogs, they are all really lovely, friendly and usually make themselves at home straight away. We especially like to have the same dog back time after time and they always look really pleased to see us again."

"I love having dogs I was brought up with my father's GunDogs we always had 2 or 3 at a time. A friend saw you advertising for people to look after them while a way on holiday or just for a week- end. So I did just that. I loved having Maisie also Kali loved it as well."
Cynthia - 10th Aug, 2015
"My Barking Mad dogs, many of whom come back again and again, light up my life. They are all different, with different hopes and needs, and getting to know them and earn their trust and affection is pure joy. They go everywhere with me, visiting friends, shopping, and of course on lots of nice healthy walks, good for me as well as them. Total strangers have become friends, stopping me in the street with "What's this one's name, then?" - or even, on between days, with a disappointed "No dog today?"
God bless BM, my area manager Ian, my owners, and first and foremost, all my dogs."
Celia - 4th Aug, 2015
"Rolo has just gone home after his weekend trial. He passed with flying colours. 10/10 I would say and I'm looking forward to his return towards the end of the week.
Well done Emily - you worked out straight away what sort of dogs are best suited to my situation. Quicker than I did."
Pam & Ray - 21st Jul, 2015
"After a year of being without a dog it was great to have not one but two dogs in the house. To see two little faces greeting us from their crate when we returned home was lovely. They settled in well and Emily made sure we were happy with them. Our grandchildren who live opposite were constantly here playing with them, which they adored. If only we had heard about Barking Mad when we were dog owners and didn't want to use kennels!!!!!!!!"
Filomena - 9th Jul, 2015
"Having Pebbles for a few days was delightful and Finley enjoyed the company. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of dealing with a dog other than my own and understanding her needs.
She seemed extremely happy and made herself at home immediately. All doggie friends on park enjoyed meeting her and she was in her element.
Great fun all round."
Mary - 8th Jul, 2015
"I've often asked myself why on earth anyone would want to be a host for Barking Mad. Belly rubs, staffie, Henry's smelly farts, being first out in pristine snow, pickle's snoring (how the walls vibrate), watching Starsky grow from a gangling four month pup into a well behaved teenager. I can go on and on but my favourite is sleeping on the settee on a hot afternoon having a 'nana nap' with a happy, contented pooch sleeping on my stomach dreaming of rabbits.
In 2014 I looked after 24 different dogs, most of whom returned numerous times. So far this year I've had 18 from little to large to very large (ah yes - Dudley). If I put my foot down and ask for time out to have a holiday myself then I get those puppy dog eyes from Ian (the boss) suggesting that I would love to take a dog with me. I generally succumb and thoroughly enjoy our time together.
Would I recommend being a Barking Mad host to anyone else? Having a boss like Ian who is very keen and hands on makes being a host easier. Should anything crop up he will be straight round to deal with it. I love hosting and would urge those people who are thinking about it to have a go. Where else can you wake up to a pair of soulful eyes, a lolling tongue and a wet nose in your immediate field of vision - that's enough about the old man!
Hi you folks at head office. I have spoken to Ian and he says that if you use this can you put it on both his Bath and Dorset sites please. Many thanks. Mary xx"

"Having lost my beloved 15-year-old Westie last July I decided to sign up as a Host with Barking Mad towards the end of the year.
To be honest the first dog that came to me didn't really suit me and I wasn't sure I would do it again. But Emily persuaded me to have another try and I've had several dogs since which have all been delightful. My favourite, Lulu, has just gone home after her third visit.
I know she loves coming to me and I love having her."

"I love looking after all the different types of dogs that come for there holiday with me. I love caring for them as if they where my own. It gets me out and about meeting new people and their dogs too. All the dogs I've had come everywhere with me and even though each dog had a different personality they where all great to have. I look forward to caring for more dogs as well as caring for the same dogs that i have had."

"Just coming to the end of another period of hosting a Barking Mad dog on holiday. We really appreciate what Nicola and her team do to connect the right dog to the right family. After having dogs all our lives the time came for us not to be selfish and home another dog in later life. Barking Mad filled that gap and we adore giving a home from home holiday to these special dogs. It's just what we wanted for our dogs rather than kennels.
We feel privileged to be a host for Barking Mad and look forward to giving the next dog with a good home, a good holiday.
Nicola and her team are very professional and give the owners and host families a very professional approach which makes a good holiday for the dogs and a lot of fun and satisfaction for the hosts.
Keep up the good work and can't wait for the next dog to come on holiday. Thank you to you all. Brian and Carole"

"I have loved having the pugs, a breed I've been thinking about getting. Was so nice to have a dog in the house again. All very well behaved and was nice to know Emily was always on call should the need arise. Looking forwards to my next house guest. Sue"

"Lulu, a delightful little Coton de Tulear, was collected from me yesterday after a nine-day stay. We both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and I was sorry to see her go. - Can't wait for her to come back again."
Elaine & Tony - 26th Feb, 2015
"Love looking after our holiday dogs. It's a brilliant, well run company, with people who really do care about the dogs, I would highly recommend to would be hosts or dog owners who can rest assured their babies will be well looked after."
Liz - 25th Feb, 2015
"Really enjoyed having Hamish. Appreciated the support, from Emily, with the walking issue and the fact I could call if any issues.
Next dog please.

"Me and my family love being a part of the Barking mad team! It makes me feel happy knowing the dog isnt in kennels and instead having a fun time in the our home. Its also great for my own two dogs, it gives them the chance to make new friends and socialise with other dogs all shapes and sizes!"

"I recently hosted my first little visitors from Barking Mad. I was slightly nervous having 3 at once, but I need not have been concerned, Emily was very good with lots of info about what I needed to do.
They very quickly settled in and I really enjoyed having their companionship. I loved taking them out each day and watching them play with their toys."

"It's now twelve years since I first asked Barking Mad to look after our lovely Boxer Amber.Later,we became hosts and since Amber died,Barking Mad has helped to fulfill our enjoyment of canine companionship with dogs of many different breeds and temperament.
It is lovely when we have repeat visitors,to know that their owners are just as pleased with the Barking Mad service and care of their cherished dogs as I was with Amber."

"We love the opportunity of hosting dogs as we no longer have of our own. This is a great way of having a dog around the house without the commitment of owning a dog."
Liz - 30th Sep, 2014
"My family and I love being hosts as it gives us the chance to meet lots of different dogs and get to know them.
The house feels empty once the dog has gone but we really enjoy giving the dogs a holiday and the owners piece of mind that this member of their family is being cared for safely and for a few days is a part of our family.
It is always good to know that Emily is on the end of the phone for support and the clear guidelines from the owners let us know what the dog enjoys and what their routines are."
Bruan and Carole - 22nd Sep, 2014
"We have just had our first dog on holiday and jess was a pleasure to have. We have always had dogs but lost our last one a year ago. It was a hard decision not to have another, but our age is against commiting to owning another. We saw a local advert for hosts and Nicola from barking mad made the whole process so easy.
Its the best decision we could have made and cant wait for our next doggy to come for a holiday. They make the house a home again. We love it. Thanks Nicola."
Monica - 28th Aug, 2014
"I lost my dog after 15 yrs together , so Barking Mad is ideal for me, I so enjoy having my doggy visitors, every one of them have their own characteristics, which is so nice to discover, whether they like playing ball, or tug of war with one of their toys, and I enjoy our walks as much as they do as well. "How does one sum up being a Barking Mad host? Fun, good loving company, enjoyable healthy exercise and sociable walks when holiday dogs are here. When they are not, then time alone to relax, visit friends, have days out, holidays etc, but soon something is missing. You can't beat doggy company! So I look forward to my next 4 legged holiday guest.
When they arrive I read their notes (what to feed, when to walk, favourite games) all the information I need to make them feel at home. Together we enjoy their holiday and I help them write a holiday post card at the end of their stay!
Life couldn't be better, especially when they come again and their body language, eyes and tail all say 'great to be back, let's have more fun.' Penny the Patterdale, Ellie the Collie, Riley and Alfie thank you for coming into my life. I'm sure you are the first of many more holiday makers who I'll enjoy welcoming into this holiday home for dogs.
When my 16 year old Bonnie went to doggie heaven recently I couldn't decide whether or not to get another dog. There were advantages on both sides, so I got in touch with Barking Mad and with help from Nicola I became a holiday home for dogs. It's great fun, varied, flexible and rewarding; The benefits of having a dog whenever you want, without being tied all the time.
Thank you Barking Mad for enhancing my life.

"I have always owned animals but current circumstances don't allow me to commit full time to the care of a pet. I missed so much not having one around, saw the advert for Barking Mad and Barking Mad took me on. It is the perfect solution! I have had the privilege of looking after some wonderful dogs, enjoying walks and cuddles with my little friends. Now I always have a doggie to look forward to, some of them stay with me regularly, which is especially fun. Any drawbacks? - having to return my little friends at the end of their holiday!
Becoming a Barking Mad Host is one of the best decisions I have ever made!!"
Mavis - 30th Jun, 2014
"I have been hosting for Barking Mad for almost six years now, and have so much enjoyed the company of some beautiful dogs of many breeds. I didn't want to get another dog of my own, so this was a perfect solution to have the opportunity of having a lovely dog for company, walks and fun, and yet be free to go away whenever I chose. As time goes by, certain dogs return for repeated holidays, which proves that a happy dog means a happy owner who entrusts their much loved pet to you. Barking Mad is a well structured company, and it is always good to know that 24hr support is on hand if ever needed."
Bernie & Susie - 24th Jun, 2014
"Although new to Barking Mad its been one of the best things we have done living on a small farm we have space and plenty of local walks to offer our wonderful friends who have stayed with us. each one is missed and we long for their return.
We have set up a gallery of our new friends and find great pleasure looking at the moments they have shared with us."
Niccola - 4th Jun, 2014
"I can honestly say that being a host for barking mad has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. It has helped me physically, emotionally and financially. After losing my own dearly loved Jack Russell I decided I couldn't have another dog to go through the pain of losing it again. Then along came Barking Mad, it must be nearly 7 years ago now and I've never looked back. All the dogs are such a pleasure and a joy to care for. You love them like they are your own and yes, you miss them when they go home but you know there will be another little one on its way to fill the space very soon . The best thing is that they do all come back regularly so your home really does become a home from home, it is wonderful when they come in and you know they are as happy to see you again as you are to see them. It really is the best thing, everything is in place to ensure you have 24hr help and support if necessary. You can specify what type or size of dog you prefer and also specify when you are available. Basically if you're happy the dog is happy and vice versa."
Karen - 27th May, 2014
"This has been my first week as a host of Barking Mad and I/we are loving
it! My first dog guest was Maisie a bearded collie cross. She stayed with us
for the weekend and was such a pleasure to look after. We had lots of fun at
the beaches and parks. We then had lovely little Malcolm a jack Russell cross.
He was very excitable but settled very quickly. He loved playing in the back garden and on
our walks where he came across rabbits, horses and even hens. We are looking
forward to getting gorgeous Bertie very soon. The house seems strange when we
don't have a doggy guest now.
Thanks again, Brad.
Karen, Brian, Nico and Dylan."

"Our "visitors" have become part of our family over the years. They are as different as our children, and, just like our kids, we love them to bits. Nicola has proved to be a good friend as well as a wonderful "boss". Of course, we do spoil our dogs but they are on their holiday!"
Bev & Ellie - 15th May, 2014
"We love the flexibilty of having different dogs to look after, and we have a few regulars now, especially over half term and school holidays, they bring such fun into the house, with their own individual personalities, we shower them with love and affection (as would their owners) and get very attached - but we know they have to go home, till the next time..."
Cid - 15th May, 2014
"There are so many reasons to love having dogs come to stay with us..... we love having a variety of sizes and breeds and personalities, there's always something to delight us! My boys love having dogs around to play with, and they don't get bored with walking them or feeding them because there's always something different. We get such fantastic characters come and stay with us, they get us out and about, they fill the house with wonderful dogginess. If there's a downside, it's the sadness when they go back home..... until our next doggy friend comes to stay, that is!"

"I enquired about being a host following my friends' dog being on a 'Barking Mad' holiday. As soon as I met Tina I decided that I would like to become a host, because I was impressed by her friendly professionalism and her genuine love of meeting the needs of dogs and their owners. I have been very well matched with some delightful canine companions! I look forward to the regulars and to meeting new dogs. I have not had any problems as such, but appreciate the speed of response and action from Tina, Colin and Carol-Ann when I have needed information or help with something. I might also add that that Tina, Colin and Carol-Ann are as lovely as the dogs they bring!"
Mick and Shirley - 22nd Apr, 2014
"When we retired, we considered getting a dog of our own. We'd had lots of dogs whilst the children were young but it had been a few years since our last one had died. However, we planned to travel so thought perhaps it wasn't a sensible idea. Then one day, Shirley overheard a conversation about Barking Mad.....and the rest is history! Tina was brilliant - her passion and love for the animals was obvious and we warmed to her straight away. Very soon after, Charlotte, a chocolate Labrador, came to stay with us for 2 weeks. Charlotte adopted us and gave us all her love, attention and affection. The walks, the fresh air, the laughter we had with her were excellent. We said "goodbye" and looked forward to our next dog. Since 2011, when we became hosts, we've had lots of different dogs and return visits from a number of them. It's great getting to know their personalities and learning about them. Tina is always available to consult if there are any difficulties. If anyone is considering becoming a host, we would strongly recommend it. We've never regretted it for one moment! We've just returned from 9 weeks travelling and are desperate to meet our next four legged house guest!"
Karen and Paul - 17th Apr, 2014
"A house isn't a home without a dog in it. Our labrador, Hero loves to have a friend for a couple weeks - they have lots of fun running and playing together, then Hero gets a rest before the next doggy visitor arrives. There's something very special about a wagging tail, and a doggy greeting! We're very pleased we found Barking Mad and treat all our visitors as we would expect Hero to be treated - with love and respect."

"My family used Barking Mad initially for our own dog Sally. She was an old labrador and I never wanted her to be put in kennels when we went on holiday. Tina at Barking Mad came out and totally put our minds at ease. We were shown various hosts, their gardens and all Sally's needs were taken care of. This made us feel so relaxed going on holiday knowing Sally was in the best hands, literally home from home care. She was, most of the time, homed with the same family which was even more reassuring! Sally did take poorly when we were on holiday once and we were up-dated daily by Tina and Barking Mad took extremely good care of her, I will never forget them for that. When Sally passed away a few years ago we knew we didn't want to get another dog and decided on being a host family. It really is the best of both worlds. My 12 year old son particularly loves dogs coming to stay and the love we get from them. We've had all sorts of different dogs and characters. However, as we are busy during school holidays etc, we can select when we would like to take dogs. We have the freedom now and it's so much fun. The great thing is we know we have the back up and support from Tina which is fantastic. If things sometimes don't work out Tina is there to help and even take a dog should we be unable to look after it (which is a very rare occurrence as Tina is excellent at selecting the right dog for the right host). We take lots of photographs for the owners which Tina emails to them, should they wish, on holiday. We also write a little postcard for the families so they know what their pet has been up to while they have been away. It really is a fantastic company and I couldn't recommend them highly enough. If you are wanting company from a dog but without the full time commitment then look no further than Barking Mad. Go on, give it a try.......!"
Sue and Paul - 17th Apr, 2014
"We became hosts for Barking Mad, thinking it would be good to have a dog occasionally and the exercise would be good for us, being retired we need to keep going!!
Tina impressed us immediately..she really works hard at matching the dogs to the people. We love dogs that are good fun on their walks, but behave in the house (who doesn't?) and we have had a range of young and old, big and small and lots and lots of Labradors. If there has been a problem e.g. The dog needs the vet to check something, Tina, Colin or Carol Ann arrive and take the animal to the vet. We had one dog who obviously wasn't happy, and frankly was making us unhappy, perhaps pining for its owner, and Tina took it and looked after it herself. So we never have to worry that we are stuck with an animal that we don't get on with.
Tina has become a good friend, and her team of Colin and Carol Ann are so professional and caring with the animals it is a pleasure to 'do business' with them.
If you are thinking of being a host, do try it...you have a lot of fun, I enjoy the caring for some of the older ones as well as running round with the young ones, without the responsibility of having your own animal. Posted by Sue and Paul Allcroft"

"Due to health issues I am unable to have a dog of my own. Being a host for barking mad means I can have the company and pleasure of a dog, for a period of time with out the resposibility and cost of owning a dog myself. It is nice to know that as a host I can enable owners to have a break safe in the knowledge that their dog is being cared for by someone whose aim it is to give the dog a holiday in a friendly loving enviorment."

"My husband and I thoroughly enjoy being hosts for dogs. Faye is great and runs a valuable service. Every dog we have has it's own wee personality and we grow to love them more and more every day. They are like little rays of sunshine in our home. We are so happy we decided to be hosts. We love it."

"It is a real pleasure for us to look after so many varied dogs and hopefully give them a great time in a caring way close to their home life.Have done this now for over 3 years with nothing but positive experiences and would fully recommend being a host."

"We are the lucky ones that get to look after your lovely dogs my family and i enjoy it because we get to meet so many different characters and they are all individual and whilst they are with us they are treated as part of our family. We love dogs but because of work commitments we can only host during the school holidays so we are always looking forward to our new guest arriving and we hope to be part of Barking Mad for a very long time."
The service is quite simply an alternative to kennelling dogs. When their owners are away on holiday or business, dogs are carefully matched to suitable hosts and enjoy a holiday with them. We have a large and varied team of fantastic hosts who live around the Cotswolds who are passionate about dogs. They have become Barking Mad hosts for a variety of reasons– they may have a dog themselves who thrives on the company of other dogs, they may have lost a dog at some time and just feel that they cannot commit fully to owning a dog of their own, or maybe they are retired or work at home and love having a part time dog for lots of walks and fun.
When we talk to customers they speak so highly of the service, and feel that their dogs have a more enjoyable holiday experience than themselves, avoiding the inevitable airport stress that we have all experienced!
Barking Mad dogs receive a 24/7 bespoke service that caters for their every need. They take all their home comforts on holiday with them such as bedding and their favourite toys - they even present their owners with a postcard on their return! Dogs of all shapes and sizes are catered for, and those with special requirements who may be on medication or special dietary regimes are particularly welcome. If you feel that your dog deserves the holiday that they would choose themselves, or you would like to become a Barking Mad host, then please give us a call on 01285 711650.
The team consists of Alun Davies – the owner of the business who oversees the operation as a whole, as well as providing day to day contact for customers and hosts, managing the diary of bookings and host availability, and arranging pick up and drop offs for our valued doggy customers. Two new members of staff have been appointed and as we strive to provide the Barking Mad service to more new customers around the Cotswolds.
Alison Parker joined the team in May 2015 (in pink above) and lives on the edge of the eastern side of the Cotswolds. She manages social media, show/fete attendance and online marketing. Alison has also been a host for us for the past two years and loves all the dogs that come to her for a holiday and it’s safe to say they love her too!
Rosie Murton joined in March 2017 and she lives out by the Severn Estuary, so right out at the western edge of the Cotswolds. Rosie looks after face to face marketing and brand awareness. Rosie is the proud owner of Inca who is an adorable Retriever/Labrador Cross.
Now with over 200 doggy customers, the business is going from strength to strength and this is expected to accelerate further following the introduction of TV advertising in May 2017. The whole team is working closely together to ensure we provide the best possible service for both human and doggy customers.
We have used Barking Mad many times now and cannot fault the service. From start to finish the care and attention to detail is excellent. Our dog, Monty, returned from a long weekend away, happy, healthy and obviously very well looked after by his host family (Liz & Dave). We had complete peace of mind knowing that he was being cared for in a loving environment, getting all the attention he deserves.
Hi Alun. I'm always unsettled when Aero has to go somewhere new for his holidays, but I have to say that you did a great job matching up Aero and Roz. They obviously had a great time together. Her postcard had us in stitches because it described Aero's normal behaviour perfectly! It is reassuring to know that he was himself on his holidays!! Thanks, The Smith family xx
All that worry for nothing! Being a real Mummy's girl, I thought that Sadie might not settle with Roz, but she had a wonderful time, and judging by the two photographs that I received in 24hrs, Sadie had a cuddle with Roz and then settled straight down for a good snooze in front of the fire! She was returned to me the next morning, bouncv and happy, and with a postcard telling me of her adventure. So thanks to Alun, Roz and Barking Mad Cotswolds for solving a problem for me. Cate
Barking mad proved from the very first contact we made how professional and caring they are towards our beloved dog. Attention to detail is key and they hit the mark. Right from the off with the consultation the right questions were asked, probing in to Tyson's routine and medical history. The trial is a fantastic way to ensure both dog and family are content with each other and the new surroundings are not too stressful for the dog. The photographs which were sent to us while Tyson was on holiday was a great way to keep our minds at ease as this was his first time apart from us for a period as long as this.
A great service and we have and will continue to promote your business by word of mouth.
Many thanks for taking care of our boy,
Paul & Jaime
Thanks to all at Barking Mad for looking after our dog Poppy last week whilst we were away in Germany for our son's wedding.
Can't praise them enough, Poppy came back happy and relaxed. Let's do the same next month!
Please pass on our thanks to Tania and Alan for looking after Stanley so well. He obviously had a wonderful time with Jack - it must have been exhausting for them having them hurtling around all day!
Thank you too for your very efficient arrangements for the visit. We will certainly want to use your services again in the future.
Haha! Thanks for this - she looks very 'at home'!!
Thanks also for all your assistance with Tills this year. It all works really well for us.
We don't have any more trips planned for now but I'm sure I'll be in touch again before too long.
I've had a great experience with Barking Mad with my 1 year old cocker spaniel. It's a great service with friendly people running it and hosting. My dog Rocco came back very happy, albeit worn out, from his stay away. He'd had lots of fuss and walks and the feedback we had was very reassuring. I'll definitely use Barking Mad again and would certainly recommend them!
Thank you so much Barking Mad. Baxter seemed to enjoy his holiday and was very relaxed when he came home (after the initial excitement of seeing us again). It was lovely to get your texts and email picture of Baxter on his walk (really put my mind at rest). Please thank Gill for her kind words on the postcard.
Thank you again, we will definitely be using Barking Mad again and will be recommending to friends.
Just wanted to say thank you for looking after the 'big guy!'. He's been asleep since he arrived back! We've named the new buddy 'Dave' who is settling in well! Big lol!
Please feel free to pass the picture on to Beryl. Again thank you to you and your team!
A big thank you for organising Monty's 'barking mad' holiday.
As always, Monty returned from his holiday with Liz & Dave very happy, content and obviously spoiled rotten! Please pass on huge thanks to Liz & Dave, we especially love reading the 'diary' that Liz produces for us complete with pictures, it's obvious he had a fantastic time.
Having always had family we could leave our 10 year-old Springer Spaniel with, we'd never needed a boarding service before and we were somewhat nervous about finding one that was reliable and trustworthy. When we came across Barking Mad the professionalism of the set-up immediately grabbed our attention and we gave them a call straight away.
We cannot be more pleased with the service we received. The response to our initial call was quick and efficient. Alun Davies, the representative for our area, was professional, polite and highly competent. Everything was supremely well organised but didn't forget to put our dog's interests first. Every effort was made to ensure our dog was paired with the right 'hosts', and that they were comfortable with looking after a middle-aged but still very energetic Spaniel for two whole weeks. The policy of a 24 hr 'trial' stay before the first main 'holiday' certainly helps in that regards.
By the time we left on holiday we were confident that our dog would be well looked after and that confidence was not misplaced. He returned fit and happy, and had even benefited from some much needed brushing during his stay.
I can heartily recommend Barking Mad, and especially Alun Davies and his army of hosts in the Cotswold area. If you need to leave your dog for any length of time and don't fancy the idea of putting him or her in to kennels this really is a great alternative.
We were keen not to leave Tracker in kennels and this seemed the ideal solution.
Alun was very efficient and professional in his service and Jenny seemed an excellent host.
Tracker seemed extremely content on his return to us and we'll not hesitate to recommend Barking Mad to others.
A very big thank you to barking mad and especially to Linda & john! It was so nice to go away safe in the knowledge that our boy was being properly looked after. We are so grateful especially as he is a noisy pest at times!! Loved the postcard update :)
Thank you so much to all involved we will definitely recommend your services and use you for any future holidays!
Very best wishes Tracy and family xx
We were very nervous about leaving our very special boy Cookie while we took a much needed holiday, especially as he had just undergone an operation to remove a ball of grass from his stomach! However we needn't have worried. Alun had placed Cookie with the perfect host, Kathleen! Cookie had a great time and came home fit and well with lots of stories to tell us. Especially the one where he was allowed to sleep on the sofa!
We would not hesitate to use Barking Mad again when we next take a holiday.
We are very happy to have found that Barking Mad operate in this area. We immediately felt comfortable with the set up, ie a very likeable member of the team coming to meet us and our dog and finding out our dogs routine etc so we felt completely at ease when our holiday came. To match our dog with the right person/family is important and she came back very happy and content and we didn't have to worry while we were away. Posted by Mrs Woodall
Can I just say what a professional service you run, initially I was quite nervous about Baxter going to someone I didn't know and also in a different town - but Baxter was really "chilled" when he came back from John and Gill - he obviously had a lovely time and looks forward to going for his next holiday. Thanks again.
""We have been delighted with the home care service offered by Barking Mad. It is a great reassurance when we are travelling to know that our dog is being looked after in a proper home by a family who know and love dogs.
It was always a worry to us just how our dog was doing when we had to leave him in kennels, but now we get a daily photo sent to us of him out walking or playing in the garden.
The pick up and drop off service means we have one less thing to worry about when getting ready to go away on our holidays and short trips. I would recommend Barking Mad to anyone who like me thinks about their dog every minute they are away!

I just want to thank you again for arranging another very happy holiday for Dexter. He thoroughly enjoyed his time with Jennifer and John - it sounds as though he had a lovely time - lots of walks and his day out at Westonbirt sounded extra special. Also thank you Alun so much for stepping in and having Dexter for a few extra hours when we were delayed on our journey home. And I know he loved his time with you and your boys playing ball in the garden.
Thank you so much, Barking Mad. I was initially nervous about leaving Dexter, but now he's had two successful stays with two different host families, I'm feeling a lot more relaxed about leaving him, and I have the flexibility of knowing there will always be a loving host family to look after him whenever we go away.
Please can you pass our thanks on to Gill, John and Mammie for the postcard and also for looking after Nessie so well. Her coat looks so lovely after all the grooming she received. I didn't have internet whilst in Scotland, so have just received the photo of Nessie. Best wishes Dianne, James and Nessie
I wanted to say thank you for looking after Beckett and Noodles. On our way home from holiday, we made a detour to visit Nicky, who helped rescue Noodles. We learnt a little more about her history. The only way Nicky could get her to eat at first was to put little bits on the floor for her to eat when she thought it was safe. Knowing this and also being aware of how fragile she still is, although she is steadily improving all the time, Adrian and Trudy were obviously very gentle with them or Noodles wouldn't have taken it in her stride and coped as well as she did. As for Beckett, well he's Beckett and it's all about him. Thank you again.
It was lovely to receive the postcard from Gill and hear that they enjoyed having Nessie stay with them. I know Nessie is looking forward to visiting Gill, John and Gill's Mum again and this makes me feel less guilty and sad about leaving her behind. It was also lovely to receive the photo and text message whilst I was away.
I could not be more pleased with the service I have had from Alun at Barking Mad. From the very first meeting of organising Goblin's holiday to when she was delivered back, everything went very smoothly. I will definitely be using Barking Mad again and luckily the host family are happy to have Goblin back. So thank you for making what could be so stressful very peaceful and happy.
Alun and his family provide a wonderful, caring home-from-home for our Irish Wolfhound, Orlaith - it's a joy to know that she will be so well looked after if we are away. I would unhesitatingly recommend to any dog-owner the excellent service provided by Barking Mad.
Dexter, our 3 year old cocker spaniel, thoroughly enjoyed his stay with Alun and his family at Whelford last weekend. It was great to get texts from Alun saying how well he had settled in and then to receive a lovely email photo of him playing with Alun's son, Charlie. I'm so glad I've found Barking Mad - it provides us with the home dog sitting environment I want for Dexter, and the ‘host’ concept means that I feel confident that whenever we go away, even perhaps at quite short notice, there will always be a great host family to look after our little boy. Thank you so much, Alun. Dexter had lots of fun and I know he’d like to visit you again soon!
Barking Mad provides an efficient and friendly service. Sadie has always enjoyed and looked forward to her holidays!
We have been using Barking Mad a few years now as we are lucky to be able to travel a lot,and our Weimaraner Roxy is always more than happy to go and stay with Alun and his hosts. We would not hesitate in recommending the service provided as our dog loves her holiday as much as we do
We have been using Barking Mad since the Summer, and have been extremely pleased with their very professional, efficient & friendly service! If you really want to be sure & happy that your dog is OK, looked after & having a good time when you have to go away - then "Barking Mad" is your answer! Every time we leave Jake he seems to have a ball, & his holiday photos are testament to that! We most definitely have peace of mind when Jake gets collected & whilst we are away! Well done to "Barking Mad" for a brilliant service!!
I would like to thank you for arranging for my holiday with Linda. I had a great time while Alan and Carolyn were away. Her bed was especially comfy! I would definitely like to stay with Linda again in the future if my two decide on another holiday when I can't go with them too.
Just to let you know that Lara settled back home very well indeed. She was pleased to see us but not excessively! She checked out the house and garden then went off to bed. She was not anxious at all - so well done Zena!
Again thank you for your excellent service.
We were very happy to send Monty, our 8 month old mini goldendoodle with Alun to go to stay with Eileen, as he had had a very successfull trial some weeks before with another host family. He came back extremely happy, contented and healthy! We were concerned at first regarding not meeting the hosts, but now wouldn't think twice before giving Alun a call to book Monty in for another stay. He now rather likes a back massage apparently so we will continue with this, thank you Eileen! Alun is very likeable, thorough and professional which put our minds at rest too. We would highly recommend this service, a fantastic concept.
Thanks so much again Alun.
Well my bonny boxer Wills has recently returned from his holiday with his host for the week Rachel and seemed healthy, happy and very tired -in fact he slept well into the next day! I will definitely be recommending Alun and Barking Mad to friends and family. Thanks Alun for organsing with such short notice during the busiest time of the year!! Posted by Karen Boulton
Rafiki had a wonderful holiday with his Barking Mad Host Family. It is so comforting to know that he was in a family environment and we know that such care and attention was given to him (he told us!) The texts and photos sent were amusing and kept us informed of his security. We would highly recommend Alun, particularly for his meticulous professionalism and genuine integrity.
Thank you Alun for the excellent service that you provide. It has given us such peace of mind to know that Aura is well cared for whilst we are away. It's great to know that she has a 'home from home' and I'm sure that she enjoys her holidays just as much as us!
Jessie has returned from a 2 week stay with Liz and Dave. By the look of the photos she had a fan time. When she has been away before at another boarding facility she came back really stressed. This time she is fine, don't think she even had time to pine for us! Have recommended to friends.
Photo well received and Dash looks very much at ease there! Thanks for that and also the postcard which was a nice touch as well!
Dash sat by the gate for half an hour, presumably looking for you to return. It seems he took to you in a big way as well so all good indications that the total experience was very positive.
Hope all is well with you.
I wanted to drop you a note to express my sincere gratitude for the manner in which you have managed the care for Marshall whilst we have been away on holiday.
From our first meeting whereby you visited us to meet with Marshall and understand the right kind of 'barking mad' host for him, right through to collecting and dropping off a very happy, well looked after Marshall a week later.
It is abundantly clear from my dealings with Barking Mad that this is a service run by Dog people.
I will certainly be using your services again, and most certainly be recommending Barking Mad to my friends and family.
All the very best,
James (and Marshall)
Our five month old miniature dachshund Monty has just spent his first holiday with Eileen. He had a lovely time and came home happy and contented. We are so pleased we discovered Barking Mad and cannot praise his care whilst we were away enough. Thank you!!
Just to say thank you for the excellent service you provided and to say that the dogs are well settled at home, Liz and Dave did wear Rupert out..he slept pretty well from the moment you left!

One happy dog returned on Sunday!
Many thanks to Sue who had Archie to stay. He had obviously been well looked after and had a good time. If only dogs could speak I am sure he would say the same. Thanks again, we look forward to using your services in the future.
I can highly recommend Barking Mad, I have used another company who host dogs, with this company I had to take my dog to the host and leave her, she suffers from separation anxiety and would get very stressed when we went. It took us 6 months of regular stays before she was happy for us to leave her.
I was quite concerned that I would not be meeting the host family but Alun collected her and delivered her to the host for a trial stay, he text me, sent an email with a photo of her with the host and phoned me with an update on how she was doing, after only one visit she came back very happy and not stressed, so I feel not taking her to the host was much better for her and me.
Thank you so much.

The service was wonderful, and receiving updates on how Jip was doing was very reassuring, she came back a very happy dog. Alun makes everything so easy, from taking the time to find out Jip's little foibles to matching her with a host family. Brilliant!
The service was excellent, especially the email information on how Lara was settling. Very reassuring. Lara came home very happy and unstressed. Well Done.!
I was very impressed with the level of customer service, professionalism and attention to detail that Alun showed when getting to know myself and Oscar.
I felt more than happy to send Oscar off on his first visit and it was so reassuring to receive the picture of home settled with Sue.
He obviously had a fabulous time as his postcard told and it was such a relief to know he was looked after and cared for so well while I was working
I will be booking him in again very soon.
Thank you from us both .
"A few months ago my English Staffordshire Terrier met Alun Davies from 'Barking Mad'. Ki hit it off straight away with Alun and within minutes was his normal self. Alun had a remarkable skill of keeping things as normal as possible for my 'best mate' so much so that when he went away for his 'trial' with a host there was no hassles at all.
Alun made both me and my wife feel comfortable with the way things would pan out with constant communication the order of the day.
Ki returned the following day with a smile on his face!
For us 'Barking Mad' delivered on all fronts and I know that whenever we use the company again both the dog and owner will be satisfied."
With trepidation off went our Labradoodle pup for a trial stay. She had brilliant fun with the hosts dog and came back very happy. The texts and pictures made the process reassuring for us and we have now booked her in for her next "holiday" Posted by Nicola
This was the first time our 10 month old cocker spaniel puppy has stayed away from home. The pick-up and return arrangements went very smoothly and he seems to have had a busy time with lots of walks as he just wanted to sleep most of the next day. Overall we were very happy with the service. Posted by Mike Baker
Thank you so much for arranging for our puppy Ollie's holiday! You found him a wonderful home from home. We appreciate the remarkable service and kindness taken to make him happy. We will be back!
Gilbert came from the Dogs Trust and we didn't want him to go back into kennels when we went away for a few days, so Barking Mad seemed like a good solution. We couldn't have anticipated quite how good the service would be. Alun's thorough fact-find, his willingness to take Gilbert for the trial stay and then his ability to place him with the perfect hosts during our holiday all contributed to our peace of mind. It was great to receive a reassuring text after Gilbert's 1st night away and to get a post card telling us all about how he got on during his holiday. The door-to-door service made it all so easy and it was reasonably priced too. Most importantly, Gilbert clearly had a great time and we'll certainly be using Alun's services again next time we go away. Thanks Barking Mad, we're very satisfied customers! I've stayed with two host families recently and had a great time. My Mum and Dad are delighted I was so well cared for and very pleased to get a report on me whilst they were away. I really like Alun who was very thorough in finding out all about me. I can't wait for my next holiday with Barking Mad.
Aero trotted off and jumped into Alun's car quite happily and when she came she was relaxed and obviously hadn't pined for us. We were very pleased to receive Alun's text while we were away to reassure us Aero was settled. Collected and delivery were all on time and everything went very smoothly. Will not hesitate to use Barking Mad again for Aero's holidays.
Our three doggies stayed with Alun and had the most wonderful time. we greatly appreciated the pictures sent to us while we were away. Many many thanks Alun
After being slightly reserved about how Barking Mad worked, I allowed my Springer Spaniel to go to her first host family. This proved to be the best thing that I could do for her. She went away and had a fantastic time with a perfect host family. Then two weeks ago I sent her to a host family in Dursley even with an injured tail. They proved to be fantastic to her and she had a great time. They looked after her as if she was their own. They made her very welcome and loved her attitude whilst she was there. I thank Alun and team for their help and the good work they do.

We have used Barking Mad for our two cocker spaniels on three occasions as we didn't want to send them to kennels. When Alun collected them for the second time they could hardly wait to get into the car!
On one occasion Molly was recovering from a knee injury and we were naturally concerned about her going - but had no need to worry, she was well looked after. The dogs come home happy, well exercised and obviously enjoy their holidays as much as we do. We would highly recommend Barking Mad for safe, high quality, pet care
Having recently rejoined Barking Mad after using them a few years ago, we are so pleased that Sophie, our Golden Retriever had such an obviously good time with her host family and indeed, seemed a little sad to be back from holiday, as we were. However, it is so reassuring to us to know that she is extremely well cared for and enjoys her break away so much. For such a well planned and committed business, Barking Mad, Alun and his hosts give us great contentment and peace of mind, for which we are most grateful.
I would whole-heartedly recommend Barking Mad. Everything about the experience has been brilliant. Alun took time to get to know KC before arranging for her to be hosted by June and Mick, who looked after her expertly. We won't be going anywhere else for our holiday dog care from now onwards. Infact we'd be barking mad not to choose Barking Mad!
I would not hesitate leaving my Weimaraner with Alun and his host families. Alun is professional, personable and can even find my Ralphie a host family at the last minute. Ralphie always comes home looking like he's had a fabulous time, not at all depressed, and I know that he's been well looked after and loved. I feel completely at ease now sending him away, knowing that he is in great hands. Thanks Alun and the Barking Mad team!
A million thanks to Alun at Barking Mad - a great service, and a very happy dog. Alun found hosts at very short notice, and Brindle has returned fit, happy and relaxed from her holiday. Many thanks to Alun and Brindle's hosts!
Thank you Alun + the lovely Barking Mad hosts. You provided the perfect answer when I had been worrying about finding someone to look after Charlie, our 9 month old Beardied Collie. What a brilliant system. I needn't have worried at all. Charlie went off quite happily to stay for two days with super hosts + was clearly well looked after and given lots of care and attention. I would be very confident about leaving him for a longer break another time. Suffice to say, we are thrilled to have found you Barking Mad!
'Thank you so much Alun for finding a host for Honey at such short notice. As a large-breed leonburger, and as a puppy, this was no mean feat on your part. Honey clearly had a wonderful time with the host family and their dog, and I hope to continue our relationship with Barking Mad over the years. I can't recommend you highly enough to other dog lovers! Thank you.
We normally leave our much loved springer Ross in kennels he hates it
A friend mentioned Barking Mad we contacted Alun and from the onset he was very
informative and reassuring about everything . Ross had a two week holiday home from home ,he returned a very happy dog I cannot thank the hosts enough .We even had texts from alun whilst in Antigua about how Ross was doing.
We will be using barking mad again and I have no hesitation in recommending to fellow dog owners excellent service .
We cannot fault Barking Mad and the amazing service they provide. The pick up and return was punctual and professional. The text and photo to say Coco was happy and the postcard from the host was very much appreciated by our whole family - great to know our little dog was being so well looked after. Many thanks Alun and to Coco's host.
We have just used Barking Mad for the first time for our two Labradors Lottie and Lola and we are so happy with the service that Alun and the hosts provided. They have both returned so happy and looking so well. We had regular feedback from Alun during our holiday which is always very reassuring. The pick up and return service is invaluable too. We would highly recommend Barking Mad.
Thank you Alun and all at 'Barking Mad' - what a fantastic service. Monty (our Cockapoo) has just returned from his first 'doggy holiday' happy and relaxed. He has clearly enjoyed his time with the Host families, and we enjoyed our holiday all the more knowing that he was being well cared for in a 'home from home' environment.
We have just used Barking Mad for the first time and were delighted with the service Alun and his hosts provided. Monty our Border Terrier was attacked whilst at kennels earlier in the year and we knew we had to find another solution. Monty does have quite a few likes and dislikes!!! but his needs were most definitely catered for. We had a relaxed holiday knowing that he was being well looked after. The holiday transportation was also a bonus - no last minute running around dropping off at kennels. We had a great experience and would highly recommend Barking Mad.
I was apprehensive about leaving Lily (a rather nervous whippet) with strangers. Our friends who usually have her were away. Alun was very reassuring and I trusted his judgements and everything was carefully talked about first. Lily has been twice now to her new friends. When Alun collected her the second time she ran to him tail wagging and jumped into his car without even a backward glance to me or a wave! It does seem strange to leave her with strangers but Lily is quite happy - so I am too. Posted by Ruth McCarrick
I highly recommend the services of Barking Mad: a fantastic concept and so much better than kennels. Our characterful Jack Russell Tilly has returned from 2 recent holidays perfectly happy and relaxed, staying with the same host both times which provided great continuity. The postcard is a lovely touch and we also appreciated the photo after the first day. It really is home from home and Tilly clearly enjoyed becoming part of another family for a little while! Many thanks to Alun and Tilly's host Sue for making this such an easy and pleasurable experience.
Holiday abroad all booked - now what do we do with Murphy(black labrador)! We have tried the local kennels and they are good but for two whole weeks? Saw advert for Barking Mad and we thought lets give it a try. Murphy has just passed his trial and came back happy and well looked after. We can go off on our travels with peace of mind that he is also on his holidays. We booked at quite short notice but Alun sorted it! Great service and back up system. Thanks Barking Mad! Jane & Alan McSherry
Barking Mad is the perfect solution for our Laddie, a sociable and active 13-year old foxhound crossbreed. Laddie had become stressed about going into the kennels and would return with a lot of pent-up energy and stomach upsets. I happened to notice an advertisement locally for Barking Mad and it was one of the best phone calls I ever made. Laddie now has new friends and readily jumps into the car to go on his holidays. He is completely relaxed and healthy when he returns. I wholeheartedly recommend the service.
Barking Mad is the perfect solution for when I go away. At first I was a little apprehensive until Alun came and explained the set up. I knew I didn't want to put Charlie in kennels, and wanting the very best for my dog, I gave them a try. Charlie went on his first Barking Mad holiday last week and it was a great success. Home from home - perfect! It was lovely to go away and not worry about him at all. A big thank you to Alun and Charlie's hosts! Highly recommend and wouldn't hesitate to use Barking Mad again.
Aero has just been away for his trial stay with his host family and all went very smoothly. I admit that I was very apprehensive about leaving him, but the detailed postcard we received tells me that he had a wonderful time and that his host family will miss him and they are looking forward to seeing him again. So, now we can go away and enjoy our summer holidays with the peace of mind that Aero will be having fun and that he will be well cared for. Many thanks to Alun, his team and our host.
We had to find an alternative for our 10 year old Cocker Spaniel, Molly, when our long-term dog minder emigrated. Molly has now successfully completed the trial stay with her host family and we have been able to book three holidays with the knowledge she will be well looked after. We can recommend Barking Mad as a good alternative to kennels. All of Molly's whims seem to have been catered for!
We are long standing satisfied customers! We started using Barking Mad when we were living near Barbon, the home of the company. It was, therefore, the logical choice for us when we moved to Gloucestershire to continue with it. We knew we could rely on the consistent service and high level of care. Midge (an aging but very fit springer apaniel) is always happy to go on his holidays and it is great for us to know that he is being treated kindly in a one to one situation. May 2013
We were pleased to have been recommended to Barking Mad our Weimaraner Roxy was very happy to go and the confirmation text put our minds at rest that she was in safe loving hands for 2 weeks and this was confirmed on return of a happy dog with photos of her holiday also that the family who looked after her cared for her very well.
As we take several holidays a year its reassuring to know that she is good hands and will certainly be using Barking Mad again.
Our two Dalmations have now completed a trial with hosts and we are delighted with the service, especially the Barking Mad response when George was taken ill. Despite that, the dogs clearly enjoyed their stay and are constantly up at the gate, looking for Alun's car to collect them again. They are now booked for two longer stays and we have peace of mind as George becomes distressed when boarded in kennels. In short, no more worries.
We thoroughly enjoyed hosting as it gives us the opportunity to enjoy the company of a dog having lost ours recently and gets us out for some long walks. We hope this is the start of a long relationship with Barking Mad
So pleased that we found Barking Mad. Uno has never settled in kennels so to be well looked after in a proper home is the perfect solution. He certainly seems to have had a wonderful time with his host family - and they say he can come again! Perfect.
We look forward to seeing all our doggy customers and hosts at the Gloucestershire Vintage and Country Extravaganza - we will be sponsoring the dog show in association with the Cotswold Dogs and Cats Home - a great charity who we enjoy helping out where we can.
See you there on August 4th, 5th and 6th - we are in the animal section.
We were excited to have our youngest ever doggy customer come out on holiday this month - this is 4 month old Tashi. She was such a good girl and didn't put a paw wrong .We can't wait to see her again.
Looking forward to seeing you all at the Badminton Village Fete tomorrow - it all kicks off at 2pm and we have a fantastic doggy hamper to give away so do please come over and say hello!
Come and say hi to us this weekend at the Cotswold Highland Games on Saturday 20th May and at Love Lechlade on Sunday 21st May and be in with a chance to win this bumper doggy hamper! Your dog will love you forever
We will be attending the Cotswold Highland Games on Saturday May 20th. Do pop along and support these worthy causes. We look forward to meeting you and your furry friend - we maybe even have some treats for them!
We will be attending the Love Lechlade event on Sunday 21st May. Do come and talk to us about your dogs holiday needs. We are very excited to support this great family event.
Are you interested in becoming a host for us?
This is your chance to look after lovely dogs in your own home while their owners are away.
If this appeals then do come along and join us and many of our hosts for a cup of coffee and some cake.
We are holding a coffee morning on Friday 28th April 2017 from 10.30 - 12.30 - we look forward to seeing you at Jolly Nice - The Old White Horse Filling Station near Frampton Mansell on the Cirencester Road going to Stroud.
Would you be interested in joining the Barking Mad Cotswold team - we are looking for someone to help us out a couple of a days a week starting in April.
We require more support on the marketing side of the business which would include leafleting, attending fetes, calling on local cafes, libraries, shops to ensure our leaflets and posters are displayed also the job would require someone to help out during really busy times collecting and delivering dogs to our host families.
This is a general supporting role and we imagine it would be for 2 days a week paying £8per hour with use of the company car and petrol costs would be covered. Its possible that during very busy times there maybe more hours available.
Dog lovers are a must, a clean driving license and a get up and go personality are also required.
If this appeals then email us firstname.lastname@example.org
We held a great host coffee morning on January 20th. It was lovely to get together and have some lovely coffee, great cake and lots of doggy chat!
We are already looking forward to doing it all again in April.
We have two new dogs joining the Barking Mad Cotswolds family this month - Barney and Wooster! We look forward to introducing them to our hosts as soon as possible.
As we often say our hosts are the backbone of our business, and as a thank you we look forward to seeing them all on January 20th for tea and cake.
Don't forget all bookings taken before December 31st 2016 for holidays taken in 2017 will be subject to current prices!
We were very happy to help out with a charity event in Meysey Hampton recently. A cream tea, raffle and auction was held to raise funds for a charity that helps rescue and re home dogs saved from the horrendous Chinese meat trade.
Over £2500 was raised to support the work of the The Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation.
With Christmas fast approaching please don't wait to book your dog in with us. We have hosts that are already booked and would hate to disappoint anyone by not having availability over the Christmas holidays.
Great to see so many of you at the Cerney Wick Dog show earlier in the month - we sponsored the prettiest bitch competition and I'm sure you will agree the winner is a stunner. Those bows are quite something
Every year Barking Mad head office compile a calendar picking the very best pictures from the whole business - and as you can imagine thats a lot of beautiful dog pictures - and we are delighted to say one of our pictures has been chosen - this is Molly and Monty out and about in the Black Mountains.
All of our customers and hosts will receive a copy of the calendar mid November as a thank you for being part of the Barking Mad Cotswold family.
We are starting to fill up our October half term and Christmas slots - so please if you are thinking about booking a holiday over those times, do give us a call to ensure you get your favourite host and the times you want. We hate to disappoint any customer.
Wow what a busy August - back to back dog collections and holidays. We have received many 5* reviews over the month from happy dog owners which makes all the hard work so worth while.
Our hosts are the back bone of our business and we have welcomed 5 new hosts to the Barking Mad Cotswolds family this month which is great news for all our customers.
We are looking forward to attending the Carney Wick Dog Show on September 10th so maybe see you there!
We really enjoyed The Cotswold Show - we met lots of potential new hosts and customers and it was great to see so many of our existing Barking Mad family pop along to say hello.
Can you spot Molly who worked hard all weekend!
Enzo is very relaxed on his Barking Mad Cotswold holiday - he has travelled all the way from London to join us. Its so important to book early to secure your dog holiday.
We are having trouble getting any work done this week as Oscar is a bit of a distraction!
Barking Mad Conference - Lakeside Hotel Cumbria
We had our annual National Conference in Cumbria on April 24 and 25th. A great opportunity again to catch up with colleagues, share in the success of the business over the last twelve months, and to spend time looking at how we can develop Barking Mad and maintain our position as market leader.
The headline news was that the Barking Mad network across 70 franchises generated over £3m of sales last year (a growth of over 20%), and the introduction of the TrustPilot customer feedback has provided our customers with a valuable independent communication channel, to enable us to continually improve the service we provide to you.
The highlight of the event, as always, was the conference dinner, which provided a great opportunity to catch up with old friends, and to share some of our Barking Mad experiences!
Prior to the dinner, our Managing Director - Lee Dancy handed out awards for outstanding achievement. Pictured below are the staff from Barking Mad HQ who were given light hearted awards for the invaluable work that they do in supporting the network.
Tyson is a 2 year old Hungarian Vizsla who was born with a Cyst on his brain.
It grew significantly as he got older, which resulted in him having quite regular fits.
They contacted Barking Mad - His owners became increasingly worried about his condition, and were not sure who would be able to care for him when they went on their Honeymoon in October.
"Barking mad proved from the very first contact we made how professional and caring they are towards our beloved dog. Attention to detail is key and they hit the mark. Right from the off with the consultation the right questions were asked, probing in to Tyson's routine and medical history. The trial is a fantastic way to ensure both dog and family are content with each other and the new surroundings are not too stressfule dog. The photographs which were sent to us while Tyson was on holiday was a great way to keep our minds at ease as this was his first time apart from us for a period as long as this. Tyson was registered, and a trial arranged with a Barking Mad Host who was an experienced retired Veterinary Nurse. This was particularly reassuring for the family, as Tyson was being quite heavily medicated at the time, and required loving care if he had a fit.
Prior to the wedding, Langford Veterinary Services in Bristol carried out a pioneering procedure to remove the cyst. The operation was a remarkable success, and six weeks on,Tyson has had only one minor fit (while on his Barking Mad holiday!)
A great service and we have, and will continue to promote your business by word of mouth.
Many thanks for taking care of our boy,"
