This summer we plan to attend as many shows as possible, our first will be Perranporth Dog Day, Sunday 30 April, this should be a great event, we will be offering home-made dog treats for your furry friends (a small donation for K9 Crusaders would be most welcome). A raffle will also take place for a dog friendly hamper full of goodies for your pooch.

On Sunday 14 May we will be at Enys House Gardens, Penryn for the Last Chance Hotel’s Fun Dog Show. On Sunday 9 July we will be attending Falmouth’s Bark in the Park 2017 another great event, truly aimed at dogs and their owners, another raffle and doggie treats will be available here too, please come and say hello.

Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and New Year, I certainly did, and now have to tackle the weight gain by going out for lots of walks with my two pups. Marshall is growing extraordinarily fast and is now heavier than Molly, he is still adorable and very cuddly and has a big resemblance to a teddy bear at the moment! Here he is with Molly on one of our local walks.

Thank you to my host families

To round off the year in style, we had a fabulous host get together at the Atlantic Café in Portreath. We had a great turn out including several dogs and a bimble on the beach was a must.

My guests enjoyed a lovely coffee/tea or two and a scrumptious cake from the selection available, and thanks to a fellow franchisee we also had a dog quiz that was a lot of fun and somewhat noisy!!

Cornwall news

Well what have we been up to in the past 8 months…lots as it happens, where has the time gone!!

First of all we have an additional member of staff, the lovely Janie, an absolute dog lover who cannot have one of her own due to a couple of cats, so instead she helps me out when I need it. She has managed to meet most of my host families now and many of the lovely dogs that we look after, she is also a great sounding board for me, and helps with marketing and advertising while out on her travels.

In addition we also have a second vehicle, this is particularly useful when both Janie and I need to be out and about collecting and returning dogs, but also for those older furry friends who struggle to get into higher threshold cars.

During the initial period, we have been to several shows trying to increase the visibility of Barking Mad Cornwall, it really is lovely to get out and meet lots of fantastic dog lovers and I have gained new customers from these shows which is always a good thing!

We even had a host get together on a beautiful sunny day at Trelissick near Truro at the end of May, this included a lovely walk with the dogs followed by tea and cakes at the café.

It was a lovely opportunity for some of my host families to meet others and one that we are repeating for Christmas at The Atlantic Café, Portreath on Wednesday 7 December from 1.30pm. Tea/coffee, cake and mince pies are on me as a thank you for all the wonderful support I have from my host families.

To cap it all I have a new puppy! An adorable little chap called Marshall, who will be company for Molly and a gorgeous addition to our family and new member of the Barking Mad Cornwall team!
