Trustpilot

Meet the dog sitting entrepreneurs who have become Barking Mad!

Barking Mad are offering a franchise opportunity to start your own dog sitting business

Our new dog sitting professionals (from left to right): Cathy Martin, Donna Cotton, Anita Ellis and Janet Baverstock

Barking Mad has evolved to fulfil the need for a more nurturing and ethical alternative to kennels. Our dog lovers’ community is a concept which has changed lives throughout the UK and continues to do so. The benefits are experienced by doggy customers, their reassured owners, the host families who love caring for canine guests and also our local business partners, who have invested their futures in our proven and supportive system. Our dog sitting professionals have realised their dream of working with dogs and having a successful career, ditching the dreaded commute and the constraints of inflexible office hours.

Every year, numerous dog loving entrepreneurs discover the opportunity which Barking Mad can offer and join us, appreciating the support and success which being part of the UK’s leading dog sitting service network can bring. This year’s busy summer period has seen us welcome six new faces and we can’t wait to introduce you to these fabulously caring and talented individuals!

Cathy Martin – Barking Mad Kettering, Corby & Market Harborough

Cathy was very excited to attend our comprehensive training course and enthused:

“Having been brought up with dogs, I completely understand how important it is to find the right care for your dog while you’re away! My first dog was a springer spaniel called Bracken, who I affectionately refer to as the ‘lager lout’ of the dog world! He was nearly 17 when he sadly passed over the Rainbow Bridge and was truly my best friend. As a complete contrast, I now share my home with Lillie the beagle, who occasionally gets referred to as Lady Lilliana, and loves nothing more than a belly rub unless there’s food around, of course!”

Donna Cotton – Barking Mad Nottingham, West Bridgford & Broxtowe

After previously working at Boots head office for 27 years, Donna was ready for a change in direction. She says,

“I joined Barking Mad because I’m a dog and people lover and understand just how important four-legged family members are. We have a cockapoo called Lola who we adore – in return the love she shows us is priceless! Home from home dog sitting is the only option for Lola, as she is used to her home comforts, but that’s fine with us because she deserves it! Barking Mad is everything to me because every day I meet the lovely people of Nottinghamshire and their gorgeous dogs.”

Anita Ellis – Barking Mad Newcastle-under-Lyme, Stoke & SE Cheshire

Animal fanatic Anita says,

“When the opportunity arose to join & own the franchise of the well-established dog sitting service Barking Mad, I felt it was a too good an opportunity to miss out on. To meet new hosts, customers & their lovely dogs is a dream job. I just can’t wait!”

Janet Baverstock – Barking Mad Northwich, Winsford & Nantwich

Janet has had a varied career, working in management roles in travel, tourism and healthcare, but dogs have always been a huge part of her life. She says,

“Joining Barking Mad has been a wonderful opportunity to put dogs at the heart of everything that I do.”

Barking Mad is the UK's largest dog sitting franchise offering business opportunities

Colette Crowley (pictured left) and Mandy Joy are the latest franchise owners to join the Barking Mad family

Colette Crowley – Barking Mad Warwick & Stratford on Avon

Prior to launching her own Barking Mad franchise, Colette was a secondary school teacher in Warwickshire for eleven years. She says,

“I bought my Barking Mad franchise as it offered me the ability to run my own my business with a network support, spend more time with my own dogs and fulfil my dream of working with dogs – a real passion in my life. I also love the flexibility, challenge and the ability to work from home.

We are currently puppy training our new addition to the family, our gorgeous 10 week old Cockapoo puppy, Teddy. I know from personal experience how important it is to leave your dog with carers you can trust. It’s so hard to relax when you’re not confident that your pet is having as good a time on holiday as you are, with Barking Mad you can rest assured that they are!”

Mandy Joy – Barking Mad Enfield & Harlow

Mandy was delighted to also become Barking Mad! She says,

“I love my job! (I used to be a civil servant). I’ve grown up with dogs and I love them too; my first dog was ‘Dinky’, a Heinz 57 who looked like a shaggy grey terrier. At the time I was eight years old. In recent times, I was suffering from doglessness and working in Central London. I desperately wanted a dog but because of the long hours of my previous job, couldn’t bear the thought of leaving my furry friend for so long each day.”
