Jessie and Snowbelle who joined Barking Mad this Summer

We were delighted to welcome Jessie and her dog Snowbelle as new customers this Summer.  Jessie and her family recently relocated from the USA and were thrilled to find Barking Mad.  They wanted to ensure Snowbelle would be happy while they were away and really didn’t think kennels would suit her.  We matched Snowbelle up with host Elsie and she had a brilliant holiday while Jessie and the family were away on theirs.  Read more

Faye’s Life-Work Balance with Barking Mad

What’s it like to own a dog sitting franchise business?

Barking Mad Dog Sitting Service award winning franchisee Faye Carruthers

Faye Carruthers was delighted to be awarded the Brand Builder of the Year Award 2017

Dog lover Faye Carruthers is the proud owner of Barking Mad Renfrewshire, Inverclyde and N. Ayrshire, a busy dog home boarding franchise business. She enthuses:

“There are no two days the same with Barking Mad as a professional dog sitter.  One day I can be out collecting and delivering dogs and the next I can be popping into a few local veterinary practices, then working from home on new bookings. For me, running my own business means making sure I get time off when its suits both me and my job.  It’s an enjoyable lifestyle with a good income and certainly beats my previous occupation of managing a clinic!  I organise my own life-work balance so I have time to walk my dogs and spend time with family and friends.  I have an assistant so I get weekends off which my husband appreciates (most of the time!)”

How to Make a Successful Career Change with a Dog Sitting Franchise

Making money doesn’t have to be boring!

If you're looking for a new career direction, how about working with dogs and running your own Barking Mad dog sitting business

Making a career change can be daunting but we’re here to help

If your childhood self could see you now, would they marvel at your career or despair at the wage slave you have become? Do you feel stuck in an unrelentingly monotonous job with a laborious commute? Many individuals are waking up to the realisation that life is too short to stay in a job you don’t love!

If you are entering or exceeding middle age, it seems only natural to begin to wonder why you are working so hard to make money for somebody else and to dread spending the next chapter of your working life feeling unfulfilled. Career change is possible but the traditional jobs’ market simply isn’t designed for career changers, with often very specific skills and experience being required for a different role.

More and more people are looking to buy a franchise as an alternative to traditional employment. The British Franchise Association is the voluntary self-regulatory body for the UK franchise sector and describes franchising as:

“The granting of a licence by one person (the franchisor) to another (the franchisee), which entitles the franchisee to own and operate their own business under the brand, systems and proven business model of the franchisor.”
