Dog owners who have ever experienced saying goodbye to their beloved, four-legged best friend, will understand just how heartbreakingly difficult and emotional it can be. The UK’s third annual Dog Remembrance Month begins this September 1st, 2019 and will once again create a focus for dog lovers to come together and celebrate the lives of their cherished pets, whilst providing mutual support and understanding.

As Nationwide dog sitting specialists, Barking Mad are supporting the vision of providing a platform for people who have suffered the pain of dog bereavement. We are keen to raise awareness of the lack of understanding of the effects of losing a precious pet and are holding events, such as memory walks and coffee mornings, throughout the country to promote this. You can contact your local branch today to find out more about events which are local to you.

The success of  previous years’ #DogRemembranceMonths were the first steps in our mission to provide a resource, where visitors can talk to those who have lived through the same experience and be non-judgemental of the pain and trauma that is suffered as a result of your dog passing away. We are delighted that membership of our  Facebook support group, www.facebook.com/groups/DogBereavementRainbowBridgeRemembrance/, has grown to over a thousand members, all telling their stories and receiving support and understanding. Contributors are asked to share photographs and stories about their loved ones in an environment where they can be understood and receive compassion and new members are always welcomed.

Barking Mad Founder, Lee Dancy, lost her beloved dog, Bronte, in 2013 and said:

Having experienced the heartbreak of having to say goodbye to our lovely Dalmatian, Bronte, I understand all too well that losing a dog can be devastating. I was very lucky to have a large network of dog lovers fantastic at providing their support. I am aware that sadly not everyone has this comfort and guidance. We’re encouraging local communities of dog lovers to access the support and understanding that many crave.”

Bronte is sadly missed and fondly remembered by everyone at Barking Mad

If your dog has sadly passed away, you are probably filled with conflicting emotions. Your house might feel agonisingly empty but you just don’t feel ready to make the emotional commitment to owning another dog. A solution which Barking Mad Dog Care is proud to offer, is the opportunity to become a dog sitting host, caring for dogs on a temporary basis while their owners are on holiday.

Our hosts range from retired people to busy families with school age children. They enjoy companionship, exercise and fun with friendly dogs. If you would like to learn more about joining our Host Community, you can call o15242 20202 for an informal chat in the first instance.
